  1. I personally don't think having 4 LHP in the rotation is a good idea, so I don't think the Crochet thing is logical.
  2. But do we? Reports are quite often speculation when there's nothing to write about.
  3. Why doesn't it make sense for Kikuchi?
  4. I agree with all of this. I'm of the belief that the Cubs should do whatever they can to trade Nico to create a spot for Shaw. The Seattle talk for Logan is a match made in heaven for both sides. All the boxes get checked for both sides. I also think that Jed hasn't shown the ability to take risks. Maybe in his lame duck season, he will?
  5. I agree. I'm just referring to contact, LA, GB rate and hard hit rate. Nothing more than that. So, do you think Triantos gets moved at some point?
  6. I most certainly think Triantos is going to be better than Nick. But there's no denying that there are similarities with high contact, low launch angle, softer contact. That's all I'm saying.
  7. Without looking at Nick on paper, it sounded exactly like Nick. High contact rate. Soft contact. No launch angle. High ground ball rate.
  8. It's viable, and it's just his idea. I'd bet that they never even talked, and this is just an idea Morosi had. This is the kind of stuff that fans take as a thing.
  9. I remember playing lob league in Cicero as a kid, and the team captain would quite often yell, "new order" because a kid who sucked was coming up.
  10. Cot's has them as 47.8 under the first level. As discussed on here, they will leave money in their pocket for injury payroll and deadline moves. So maybe they have another 38-40 million to spend this off season?
  11. That's the only think that I can think of. But it's a good thing for us. The Cubs won't have to make any 40 man roster decision on him until before the 2027 season.
  12. I'm seeing full seasons in 2022, 2023, and 2024, which makes this is 4th season. In 2021 he only played in 34 games, so I doubt he had 90 days on the roster.
  13. I'm thinking that this is considered Alcantra's 4th full season.
  14. I made a mistake including Miller as one of the guys to get DFA before Kilian. He was just supposed to be on the one of the 4 years out of options. My mistake.
  15. Miller will be on the team, as I didn't mean to include him in the group of guys to DFA before Kilian. It was my mistake.
  16. As you know, the 4 guys mentioned can't be on the 40 and not be on the 26. I was always referring to the active roster, and assumed that you understood that due to the options situation.
  17. He is eligible for a 4th minor league option.
  18. Well, they have to be on the active roster if they're out of options. So who are you putting on the active roster besides Miller from that group of 4 guys that are out of options? again, who are your 8 pen guys on the active roster from the current 40?
  19. He has 1 option left. If he was out of options, this wouldn't be a topic.
  20. Wow!!! I can't imagine any scenario where all of Merryweather, Miller, and Keegan are on the active roster. I'm seeing the last 3 innings as Pearson, Brown/Hodge, Hodge/Brown. I see Morgan in the mix also. And there's talk of them looking to add pen guys also. Only having 8 spots is going to make it tough for these guys to hang on I believe. I guess we'll see. To pick your brain, if they don't add any other pen guys, who are your 8 guys off the current 40, and their roles? Thanks.
  21. I agree with this. All I'm saying is, if I need to DFA pitching to make room for other pitchers, he would be the 5th guy on my list. I think they need to cut ties with at the very leas 2-3 of pitchers before the season starts regardless of whether or not they add pitching. I don't see any chance that of all of Merryweather, Miller, Keegan, and Rob Z being on the active roster. Maybe only one is on the roster, and the other 3 get DFA.
  22. Personally, I'd DFA all 4 guys that are out of options before I DFA Kilian. I'd hang on to him until I have to make a 26 man roster decision with him.
  23. There was 2 openings on the 40. Now there's one.
  24. I feel like the pen is pretty much set with the back 4 guys. The bench could be Nico/Paredes, Canario, Vasquez, and Thaiss. I have Shaw as an every day player now. If they move Nico or Paredes, Cowles can be on the bench. I personally don't see the bench or the pen being an issue at all. Right now, they have about 47.5 million to spend from now until the end of next season according to Cot's. If we hold back 10 million for injuries and deadline moves, we still have 37 million. Flaherty should be about 22 million, leaving more than enough money for whatever needs you are referring to.
