  1. I have no idea.
  2. Another problem is the one inning crap with 3-4 different guys every game. A pen guy should be able to go 2-3 innings standing on his head. Then he gets 3 days off. With 8 guys in the pen, nobody will be overused.
  3. I think that Pearson is he only guy on this list getting tendered. Adbert is also a non tender
  4. I think it's Hodge's job to lose as closer. I'm not 100% certain that Merryweather is tendered a contract. But it's probable. If Brown isn't in the rotation, he's going to be a lights out 8th or 9th inning guy. Even healthy, Horton won't be a full time starter until 2027. Might as well use him out of the pen next season. Or at least part of it. Both Wicks and Assad can certainly be solid for a couple of innings at a time. I'm not sure any of those last 3 you mentioned are going to be on the active roster. I guess we'll see what Jed's huge plans are to make this a division winner every year.
  5. Convinced about what?
  6. Very true!! But at this moment, their tool grades are all we have until they get to the bigs and have a large enough sample size to change that. But in my opinion, to give a guy a 30 FV is really saying something. Maybe he would pan out to be a 40, or even 45 if he played 2B? That's still not good though. No?
  7. I have to agree with this. We have some good players on this team. And I expect improvements for the same 3 you mentioned. Make the bench better, add a very good starter, and we are on our way. After seeing the last couple of months with the pen, I'm not worried. Especially if they add, maybe Brown, Wicks, Assad, Horton to the mix. Maybe not all of them, but even 1 or 2 is a big upgrade. I'd still like that big bopper in the lineup if it's possible!
  8. I also said he played 2B in the minors. That's never been disputed. But he was drafted as a first baseman, and they moved him 2B. His fielding tool grade given by FG as a second baseman was a 30. That's about as bad as it gets. I have to trust the experts because I've never seen him play before we traded for him. Belli opting would be huge. As it stands right now, unless they trade someone, they can't add to the offense. If he doesn't opt out, I'm spending all the money on pitching, and some bench players.
  9. I wasn't making a choice. I was responding to a Vlad post. I'd rather have Soto also.
  10. High school?? Where did he play in little league? Just kidding. He played 1B in college, and was drafted as a first baseman. LAD moved him to 2B. They wanted to play Muncy at 1B more often. Busch was very bad at 2B and 3B. They signed Freddie leaving no spot for Busch. Yes, he played most of his minor league games at 2B. But that was a position change for him.
  11. I thought they are not allowed to negotiate a contract while they are still with their current team If that's the case, you will NEVER hear about it.
  12. I'm sorry, but I may have misspoke. I'm certain that it does happen before a trade is made. I don't know if this case happened, but I'm positive that it happens.
  13. Yes, for sure. What difference does it make? They still have him under contract for the remainder of his contract. There's no need to announce an extension the day they trade for him. I was under the impression that they can't negotiate with a player who's under contract with another team. So they wait to actually do the signing.
  14. The signing came later. But I believe an agreement was in place before the trade.
  15. Busch was a first baseman with a little LF action during his college career. The Dodgers moved him off of his natural position because they liked Muncy. Bush was not good at 2B, and he was not good at 3B either. When they signed Freddie, Busch became expendable. Playing 2B was a change of position for him.
  16. I would love Vald, but there has to be a Cubs extension in place before I trade for a 1 year rental, and end up losing him in the FA market.
  17. I agree. These discussion about next season should have been happening at the beginning of August. At the latest!
  18. I read a very good article that removing pre arb players, and arb players, the cost of a win in 6 million. With Cody coming in at 2.2 fWAR, that's way more than 5-10 million dollars. Not trying to be confrontational, but he's was bad this year for his pay. He needed to be over 4.5 fWAR just to hit the break even point of his pay.
  19. He'll only get fired if winning was a priority for Tom. It's not. So, behind the scenes, Tom may be happy with Jed for all we know.
  20. In a nutshell. Blocking: Top 98%. Caught stealing: Bottom 16%. Framing: Bottom 16%. POP time: Bottom 4%
  21. It depends where they get their WAR from. Dansby led the team this year, and got it from his defense. Nico also. PCA also. I'll take a couple of 6-7 WAR players over (4) 3.4 WAR players. But to your point....if they had nine 3.4 win players, you would be correct. It's just never going to happen for any team.
  22. Those are complimentary players that need to be under great players. Those WAR's are just simply not good enough. A 3.4 WAR is good, but not winning anything. Those need to be under great players. That can't be the best they have.
  23. I agree. And using WAR, the starting lineup is filled with solid starters, and good players. No lineup at the very best MAY be considered above average.
  24. My feeling is that they know that he not getting tendered a contract, and CC wants to give Wisdom a late chance to show case himself a bit for a future contract with another team.
  25. I would say yes. He kept these guys around because he didn't know any of his new players, and the coaches did. This is just my assumption.
