    The issues lie not with the money, but with the lack of any real plan or anybody with a pair of balls in management positions. What needs to be done is have the entire front office cleared out and new people brought in with actual ideas and plans, not this non-sense of copying whatever worked last year that we have now. The Tribune won't do this because of how much money it would cost to terminate certain contracts and go thru the hiring process. Instead, the instituional thought process will be kept because we are promoting from with in. A new owner would inspire change.

    Anyone else find it funny that the first game, between Korea and Chinese-Taipai is being broadcasted on a Spanish language network?

    Florida and Colorado expaned in 93, Tampa Bay and Arizona in 98, Seattle has been around since 77 (in the last previous expansion, with Toronto). Florida won the World Series in 97.

    A large part of it goes to Sosa/McGuire, especially because of the fan friendly demeanor both guys had. But the rise of international stars, especially the Latin American stars, really brought in a lot of exposure. I think, in the end, the combination of new rules that brought in more competition and the homerun chase pushed it back to the main stream.

    Seconded. And thank him for what he's done for us the last couple years. I'll never forget his Superman slide to win the Oakland game in 2004, or the time he blew a cycle in Houston - by hitting a second home run instead of getting the double he needed. Right after hitting a ball down the line that was a half foot foul and bounced into the stands. That was hilarious.

    Tampa Bay The Name Is the Least of Their Worries and Obviously the New Owner Just Wants to Distract Attention Away From The Fact That He is Probably not Really Going to Improve the Team Much. Or the TNISLTWONOJWDAAFTFTHPRGITM!

    If we trade Walker for Matos, then what was the point of trading Patterson, a cheaper, younge, and BETTER player?

    He could never get lefthanded hitter out. That wasn't his area. He was a relief pitcher that should be used against right handers.

    You know what is really pathetic? 6 of the 8 options have to do with either bad fundamentals or just a piss-poor strategy, especially offensively. The other 2? Both injuries, and one of those was just bad luck (The line drive)

    I was at that game as well, I followed the ball and when it got to first, Nomar was not in sight, so I look back and saw him on the ground.

    Can you get a sack and a fumble on the same play? Thats actually how its scored when ever the QB fumbles in the back field (And its forced by the d player), as a sack and fumble.

    Oh, and I havn't found a way to do that yet. From everything that I have read, it isn't possible, or hasn't been done.

    I'm going to go out on a limb and say that everyone of thes guys doesn't go to arbitration. The numbers are very close. Z 1.2 mill Pierre 1.5 mill Prior 700 k Hairston 650 k Ohman 225 k Thats not much of a wager considering that, I believe, no player under MacPhail/Hendry has ever gone to arbitration.

    Man, you know what, its not the loss that is pissing me off. I expected Carolina to win because I know how good they can be. What pisses me off is the way we lost.

    As long as it includes Ron Turner's baffling playcalling and Ron Riviera's nonexistent scheme, and does not include second guessing Kyle/Rex, let it commence. After this game I'm kind of hoping Riviera leaves. It almost looked like he didn't even really prepare for this game.

    Multiple OL. The Bears won't be able to get a cover corner. My List would be Antwaan Randle El Mercedes Lewis/ Edwin Pope (1 of them) a good nickle-back (I think Vasher can be a #1 CB, and Tillman can be a #2. He sucked today, but from week 5-today he was good.) Secondary depth. I don't think Vasher can be a #1 CB. Tillman might be a #3, but he would still look confused on every play.
