  1. Alcantara has been good for 2 starts and is pretty much expected to go at the deadline or close to it from what I have read. They're not gonna move him at a low valuation; he has 8 starts left before the deadline to build that up. I had not looked at his stuff numbers and his repertoire has been nasty as ever, just missing the command, which appears to be coming back.
  2. So what are the characteristics of this dude's fastball? It's 93.7 and he throws it 65%. Effectively they had him nearly scrap his slider in favor of increasing his fb usage by 20%. It must have insane IVB or something. Jason?
  3. Franklin and Mo each with 3 walks. Talk about setting the table.
  4. From what I have read, the kick-change is a pretty easy pitch to learn. Brown just seems reticent to use it as much as he maybe should. They should probably tinker with his fastball. It doesn't grade well and gets clobbered.
  5. Yes please. I would not bet on his talent getting to us but he'd be a major addition. Feels like he will hit for more power than expected. From a WAR perspective, he appears to have a high floor and ceiling with the 80 spd and solid defense.
  6. And extremely uncompetitive in the deciding games. Irritating AF.
  7. Busch should have taken that AB for Turner and they should get PCA in there too. Try to win the game, why not.
  8. We continue to put up miserable efforts in rubber matches vs likely playoff opponents. Just roll over and play dead. By my count, we took 1 vs LAD, 2 vs CIN (probably not making playoffs but they're in the mix as of now), and that's it. In all such series' rubber matches they scored 4 vs LAD, 2 vs SD, 1 vs PHI, 1 vs SF, 2 vs NYM, 11 vs CIN, 7 vs CIN, 0 vs DET, and TBD vs PHI.
  9. That was a curve right in the heart but yeah, that fastball is erratic
  10. The Cubs have a viable RH CF option in Christian Franklin. Basically has a 400 OBP, 70 pt advantage over Alcantara. 30 pt advantage in wRC+. Alcantara does not look like an MLB hitter. Not enough contact or damage against breaking pitches.
  11. Franklin seems like a decent trade chip, too, but maybe they just hold onto him as the 4th OF. He has a 41:47 BBK. I wouldn't mind seeing him on the big league bench. Mo just missed getting that out.
  12. Boy, this is going swimmingly. Let's not roll over in another rubber match, eh hitters? Time to back up your pitcher.
  13. That barehand play he made in the 9th was filthy. We haven't had a guy play 3B like this since Javy did it for a stretch. He looks like a natural.
  14. Dodgers tried a pen game and let their 2nd guy throw 110 pitches in 4.2 IP allowing 9 runs lol
  15. Holy horsefeathers they did it Happ has more than doubled his HR output this week
  16. Cubs are going to have to do something they have yet to do this season to win this game- score more than 4 runs against the Phillies.
  17. Walk bohm horsefeathers why do we hate the IBB so much?
