  1. Zobrist has a 375 wOBA leading off this year. I really wish we'd just leave him there.
  2. He probably needs to flatten his swing a little bit. Uppercut swings stay in the zone for a short period of time and leave little room for error. The top of the zone is a huge weakness for him and pitchers aren't gonna stop attacking it if he can't do damage there. The prevailing thought is that you'd prefer players work on a mechanical adjustment in environments of low pressure. You don't necessarily focus on the fact that it's against inferior competition.
  3. 17 hits in 49.2 IP against pitchers not named Clayton Kershaw on the road trip. That's an average of 3.1 hits per 9 innings This stat makes me question how much they study their upcoming opponents they're about to face for the first time. We seem to do kind of ok against pitchers we've faced before. 3 dongs off the best pitcher on the planet, knocking him out in 4 innings... and completely hopeless against everybody else. It's inconceivable
  4. Doesn't take any bit of intelligence to know that .075 sucks
  5. assuming you began watching in 2015. More like 85
  6. I know several here probably have an impression of me that I'm just this negative dude who is always looking for horsefeathers to bitch about with this team but I swear, I never saw them being close to this shitty.
  7. Asking him to be somebody he's not has not been the most beneficial endeavour On the other hand, really disappointed in Bryant there
  8. At least we're winning the battle of who can strand the most runners. Kicking that ass!
  9. Schwarber just hit 3 straight bombs in BP. One to right, the next to center, then right down the LF line.
  10. If we're blaming the coaches for the young hitters slumping, do they not get credit for fixing Rizzo back in the day and Heyward this year? Legit argument for Heyward, but I'm not sure about Rizzo. Mallee was hired after 2014, Rizzo's breakout year. I understand he has his work cut out for him and then some. Not many coaches are given 5 young players almost at once. And most of the guys were rushed at warp speed through the system. But there has to be some visible evidence of growth at the MLB level to earn some slack. It's simply not there.
  11. Am I off-base in saying John Mallee completely sucks at his job and should be held largely accountable for the downfall of our young bats? Lump Hinske in there as well. I wonder how long Theo is going to abide this shitshow 3/5 of his pillars are putting forth.
  12. Praying Eloy can be like Marte with a much higher ISO. Just hit the horsefeathers out of the ball to make up for the lack of walks. Also it seems like I was on to something http://www.cubsinsider.com/2017/05/26/among-list-cubs-trade-targets-jeff-samardzija-might-make-sense/
  13. The Jake Arrieta in 2017 story. I'll take a handful of hits and a 9:1 KBB any day. Sucks that the offense couldn't back him up.
  14. Jake was far from shitty tonight. Just snake bit by the HR. But it doesn't matter, if the Cubs post two whole hits.
  15. Can't go to a bar? I have a 13-day old. I think my wife would kill me, especially since she's as big a Cubs fan and probably has more cabin fever than me. Ha, never mind. I'm listening to 570 am . I hate when we play the Doyers.
  16. Eh, after those dirty slides this year I don't feel bad at all for him. He took the most money, he knew their whole deal/culture there and made his own bed and had been a dirtbag to some of our guys so far this season. Was there more than one? If so, I'm forgetting. The one at the beginning of the year didn't bother me much. And its going to take a hell of a lot more than that, for me to forget how great Dex was for us. He'll be one of my favorite Cub players forever. Dex's demeanor should be emulated throughout the league. I'd take him back in a heartbeat and forgive his silly transgression.
  17. Good article in The Athletic, really sums up the lineup dilemma well https://theathletic.com/63038/2017/05/26/sheehan-joe-maddon-is-optimizing-the-leadoff-spot-but-at-what-cost/ I do not agree that Kyle should take a demotion to Iowa. However, I also don't really agree with those who say he would have nothing to gain there. But as it is, I do agree that, if he continues to struggle, he probably should be dropped even further in the lineup. I want Bryzzo and Zo to get the lion's share of the PA. I don't have a problem with giving this more time to work itself out, though. Thoughts?
  18. I had no idea Wood was having such a great season so far
  19. His favorite movie is Steel Magnolias
  20. Shoulder injury at the moment. Hence the slightly damaged goods. But they found no structural damage. I would still take the shot.
