  1. The biggest issue facing the offense so far is lack of receivers who can create separation. Trubisky looked a little lost in the face of pressure but that's gonna improve over time. But I don't think we have the right offense to hide Glennon's weaknesses. He's awful in the pocket and is going to be a checkdown machine if guys on the line aren't getting open.
  2. It was kind of weird when he pulled himself from his last start. He sort of sprinted off the mound, which I think would be troublesome to a back injury if one existed.
  3. I probably would've guessed Baez. although he gets somewhat shielded against righties and shared time with three other middle infielders, so I guess that makes sense. Schwarber also batted 1-2 for the first 2 months while Baez has mostly been buried at the bottom
  4. Well the cost is that you have to waive someone on the 40 man roster. I don't think there are any obvious 60-day DL candidates, so is a start or two from Tseng (heard he was on an innings limit with 40 left before yesterdays start so ~34 IP left) worth losing Aaron Brooks or Seth Frankoff? Might be, but its a consideration. At first I thought the injury was really serious. It's not really necessary if Jon is missing just 1 start. But I'd still chop those 2 and throw Tseng and Maples on.
  5. Kristin didn't want to horsefeathers a slob
  6. Yep the other Vegas dude is starting to mash
  7. Would we give Tseng a shot at the rotation with Lester out?
  8. Stanton is not the only qualified player in the league to have a 500 ISO in the 2nd half
  9. I horsefeathering missed everything just driving 10 minutes home from school Let's do this motherfuckers
  10. What a brutal line again from our Ace. Not all his fault but he didn't exactly stem the tide.
  11. The walk to Hamilton should not have happened but this inning has been disgustingly annoying.
  12. Did anyone actually think Almora was gonna put the ball in play? I mean I give the guy a break for being a lefty killer and much needed in that sense and he forms a great platoon for a pretty weak OF. But that dude seriously sucks against RHP. He's young and hopefully he improves in the near future but right now his ABs are generally cringy against them.
  13. Just skimming this thread but I'm definitely doing the same lately. It feels like there's been several games where he's been asleep at the wheel and not playing the best match ups. The division being up for grabs certainly doesn't help my annoyance level.
  14. I mean if anybody but Wilson gave up that fluky-ass double they'd probably get the benefit of the doubt but unfortunately Wilson hasn't earned that. But that was some horsefeathers. In on his hands - not many hitters are able to slice that pitch oppo down the line. The walk was bad but the rest of the inning was just about the worst possible outcomes for the contact that was made. It sucks. Duke laid out that the beauty in his fastball probably won't be detectable by the naked eye - being a rising fastball. But the whiff rate it induced surely means he has good stuff. He just hasn't worked out yet [emoji53] I obviously hope you're right, I want him to do well, and hopefully some of the numbers he's put up with Detroit start showing up with some positive regression here. Just don't like what my stupid, untrained, eyes have seen so far. Hopefully he gets some lower leverage opportunities soon to work things out. He hasn't exactly come in, in spots so far with margin for error. I thought last night would've been a good time to get him in to figure his horsefeathers out. Thought the same. I don't know that it would've made a difference but it felt like a good time to use him. I totally share the frustration. He has not been good at all.
  15. I know I've said it before, even to you. His stuff just looks so pedestrian outside of a fast, fastball. He can't control the FB or control or command anything off-spead or with movement. I just don't see a light at the end of the tunnel for him being more than a slightly above replacement level relief pitcher, which fine we have like 3-4 guys who are really good. Like when Carl and Strop have gone bad before the nastiness of their stuff you can still see is there it's jus they get wild from time to time but the stuff still looks good. Wilson's stuff just isn't very good. I mean if anybody but Wilson gave up that fluky-ass double they'd probably get the benefit of the doubt but unfortunately Wilson hasn't earned that. But that was some horsefeathers. In on his hands - not many hitters are able to slice that pitch oppo down the line. 16. I'm surprised such level-headed people have put so much stock in such a small sample. Duensing had like an 8 ERA after his first 10 or so innings this year.
  17. Joe's made some indefensible choices lately. Pissing me the horsefeathers off.
  18. If you're talking about the "Bountiful Crop" article from the 14th, there really isn't much there. Here's the entirety of the Maples part. http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/dillon-maples-typifies-cubs-pitching-development/#P8D5vuubmqvEOgdv.97 Thanks, I thought it would be a lot more than that.
  19. BA just published an article on Maples Anybody got a sub and can post it?
  20. horsefeathers it, he escaped. Brutal control today.
  21. Hopefully we will be seeing a lot of this for the next 3 months
  22. Solid stuff from our table setters today
