    They dont put opt-outs in these early extensions, do they? Usually there's 2-3 team option years. Like Jackson Merrill got 10m signing bonus and the contract is structured like this: 2026: $1 Million 2027: $6 Million 2028: $8 Million 2029: $10 Million 2030-2034: $20 Million PCA isn't going to start having 20 AAV for several years still.

    Hell yeah. Hopefully he cuts the chase rate a little this year and avoids a major slump like he had at the end of last year. Even if he doesn't, his floor is insanely high. Well worth it.

    Thinking any baseball season would go by with the high watermark at 87 wins is ridiculous. I get, within the context, that its exciting to see the Cubs among the best teams and winning the division, but it seems like a pretty useless exercise overall.

    Cabrera re-entered and is getting lit up again. Both homers allowed on changeups, including Carroll in the first BF after re-entry.

    I think realistically he could miss 4-6 wks. It does not have a good feel to it.

    We've heard some pitchers say the cutter flattened their whole repertoire and affected the velo. I wonder if that is the case here. Could just be "dead-arm" and he needs some rest. Either way it sucks and he probably shouldn't start.

    I guess it does make sense why they wanted Crosby and werent serious about Hendricksen. Crosby is just a cap hit, no up front money. Bears and Cubs are one and the same lol

    They werent that close to the cap if they did what normal teams do. Regardless, they should have just thrown all their money at Hendricksen instead of Bush and Bryant. So much harder to land a stud pass-rusher in the draft than it is a LB or FS. They were apparently really sniffing around Crosby, so they had the money to sign Trey. Im not sure what theyre doing. Now that the dust has mostly settled, its been pretty underwhelming. I like Bush and Bryant but as ancillary additions. And they could have opened up a lot more money to really upgrade the roster.

    Braxton had a 80 pass block grade and 70 run block in 2024. They think him at 100% for 1/10 is a better investment than the LT that were available. Personally I dont hate it, but I know hes very unpopular. Hopefully Benedet comes in with a strong camp and pushes the competition. I know Ben wont tolerate the mental miscues Braxton frequently commits.
