The improvement on his fastball from last year to this one is insane. I just want our guys to at least break his 9-start without an XBH allowed streak.

We all know Pete is an otherworldly defensive outfielder, making absurdly hard catches look easy. We also know that Kevin Kiermaier is the gold standard for value-provided in the Statcast era. He is the all-time leader in 5-star catches, accumulated over a 9-year span since 2015. Devin Hester put up an astonishing 11 return TDs in his first 2 seasons, not including the Super Bowl (or another in which a BS penalty got called on the Bears and cost him another TD) and setting the career record was basically an inevitability after that. Well PCA is already tied with Kiermaier for career 5-star catches, in 2.5 seasons! Hester's legendary feat is really the only achievement among the 4 major sports I can think of that comes close to this feat, without going back to Babe Ruth out-homering the entire league by himself. He's setting an insurmountable bar. We are so blessed to have him. Cherish this dude and all the foibles that might come with his game.

Mendoza said it plainly; they just didnt execute vs him. A lot of relative meatballs. The offspeed and breaking are going to be laid on pretty thick again I would think. We will see if he can do any damage against that.

Comparative to the rest of the league it'll so probably be bottom 5-10 but there are a lot more high- upside guys than in years past IMO. They need to have another strong draft and try to stay ahead of the attrition. They seem to be really far behind in IFA scouting and that needs to change yesterday. There's really no excuse to be lacking in that dept. -

Honestly have thought it is time to change his attack. Hitters are sitting on that high fastball. It doesn't matter how fast its coming in, or how much IVB it gets. Its essentially a meatball quite often.

Was Mathis just a dumb pick? Did they think he could play 3B/COF? Maybe thought they got Alonso-lite? Feels like not many of those prototypes go in the 1st/2nd.

Is Matas even a building block? His carrying cards are stocks and free throws. He feels like an 8th man on a deep team. The shooting on this team is going to be abysmal.
