  1. Yates and Robertson please. Stop horsefeathers around. Estevez is meh.
  2. You guys make too many excuses for Caleb whose accuracy was historically awful. That wasn't all because he couldn't set his feet and square his shoulders to throw before the rush got to him.
  3. I legit feel like they should win 130 games and make a mockery of the league.
  4. I would have been fine with that contract for Minter.
  5. I hate it too. It needs to be an acronym. Just use ED for Edge Defender, I guess. Unless there are words for GE I am unaware of and it's been a full acronym the entire time.
  6. Well you want explosive athletes that also have a good approach at the plate and Hope definitely showed that. But that is an insane jump. It looks stupid right now.
  7. Random - and this is just an observation and not a complaint or lamentation - but do we have the least amount of Latin American representation on a team in the league? I count Amaya and Assad as the only 2 major contributors. As many as we have Japanese players. If Brujan makes the team we have 3. We have to have the whitest team in the league. Our lack of ability to develop LA talent is pretty astonishing. On the 40 you also have Palencia, Vazquez, Canario, and Alcantara and only 1 of them was drafted/signed by the Cubs.
  8. Youre being obnoxious. Your stance on his market has been inaccurate. 2 weeks ago it was we're not gonna give out a 5-6 year contract, then it was shown to you he has a cold market, now you're saying we're not gonna give him a 4-5 year deal the same morning articles are saying he might be looking at a short-term deal. I don't need to be repeatedly told that I'm dreaming. It literally feels like you're still going by November projections and I don't care to hear it. If Jed is stupid enough to roll out with this rotation - and I don't see Jed trading for any worthy names on the market because the league doesn't value our prospects on a commensurate level- and I'm not even counting Roki - then I'm gonna be mad. Hopefully that doesn't happen.
  9. Ok so I don't need you to remind me you like making inaccurate declarative statements every time I mention wanting to acquire him
  10. Sure then if that's your prerogative.
  11. Look dude, It's pretty horsefeathers clear we have a foundational disagreement on Flaherty's market and I keep being proven right. You've taken November projections as hard-fact. I have been completely realistic in my hopes. Damn near every winter we have these guys who have spotty track-records being left in the cold on the market when they seek long-term deals. Flaherty definitely falls in that bucket. We shouldn't have jumped the market on Matt Boyd and spent so much of our cap on tertiary pieces. We should have added as many impactful players as we could. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/01/anthony-santander-jack-flaherty-reportedly-open-to-short-term-offers.html Per Rosenthal and Sammon, outfielder Anthony Santander and right-hander Jack Flaherty are both now open to considering that sort of deal. Sammon also confirmed previous reports that indicated the camp of first baseman Pete Alonso had made an three-year offer to the Mets that includes multiple opt-outs, though it remains unclear if he’s open to similar short-term offers from other clubs at this point. However I keep thinking about that blurb from a couple weeks ago that spoke about not adding any long-term contracts until the new CBA is set. The way they are operating it seems like they are only interested in inking 1 and 2 year deals, and it is incredibly frustrating. I am not a fan of Ricketts or Hoyer at this point. Still a couple months to change my mind though.
  12. I'm a little on edge. I said it all along that I preferred to take a quality over quantity approach. If he doesn't come away with one of Scott, Yates, Minter, or Robertson I'll be flatly pissed. I still want Flaherty.
  13. I'm sorry that that guy just got knocked out cold but the defender led with his shoulder and tried to avoid the contact that the receiver initiated.
  14. Rivers too
  15. Vrabel breaking George's heart makes me warm
  16. I actually mentioned the same with him a few months ago. It'll be worth watching if they can find something in the lab.
  17. Salary cap hell is truly overstated and shouldn't last long. But when you give a fraud 20% of your cap it sucks for a little bit.
  18. Guys it's Ryan Poles, not the friggin team being cheap. He doesn't like free agency. And his latest venture, with Davis and Swift, is probably gonna push him even more to build through the draft and trade.
  19. I'm just laughing (sorry Tom!) at Pete and Scott's delusion. This dude is lucky he got an offer for 3/90!
  20. I personally expect more than 5 war from Tucker if he stays healthy this year. I think it'll be more like 7 and there's a chance he posts 20 over the next 3 years and hits that 4-5 groove in his early-30s. He's just that great of a hitter.
  21. What if they hold down Hodge and work him as a starter in Iowa. I still see a hoss who can hold velo deep into games. If they could straighten out his strike-throwing he could be a damn good SP. I'm still leery in general of his propensity for walks.
  22. That or signing Soto were the most impactful moves a team could have made this offseason. If he plays like he did last season and stays healthy then they should win the division. This isn't like when a 75 win team traded for Matt Garza.
  23. I feel like there would be a little smoke around that if that were the case
  24. Take him to arb and effuse nothing but praise and advise the arbiters to do what's fair for the player. Engender some good vibes.
