  1. [tweet] [/tweet] I think we'll take whatever form of baseball we can get at this point.

  4. Wait, Djokovic is one of those stupid anti-vaxxers? I already hated the guy, but now I know he's also a dumb horsefeathers as well...

  7. [tweet] [/tweet]Great conversation and a great episode. It is kinda long, but if you're interested in hearing from Kiley and Eric then it's well worth it. They talk about their book and the future of scouts in baseball and how the industry is changing. I miss their UMP podcast so this is the closest thing we'll get to that again. I definitely recommend purchasing the book. It's a fantastic read during these self-quarantine times.
  8. That was awesome lol. Totally sounds like MJ too. So 10 pills to cure a headache, but 1 of them could kill you and he still says that... I never knew his problems with management went that far back. I hate Paxson (as GM/President), but his stories as a player are pretty good.

  10. Also mentioned that Thibs wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility to return as coach
  11. Yea, all things considered that Jimmy move was a pretty decent one and nearly everything else has been awful about the rebuild. I think Wendell Carter and Coby White are solid draft picks. The Mirotic re-signing and then trading away for a 1st-round pick was a good move. It hasn't all been bad moves during this rebuild... I think they could've done a little bit better in the Jimmy trade and extracted a little bit more from Minnesota. But it's a solid trade like you mentioned and LaVine has developed into a very solid, borderline All-Star 2 guard. Markkanen has a lot of potential, and I wish the Bulls would have him work with Dirk in the offseason. The main thing is FA and how badly we do in that area. I think drafting is fine, for the most part. Hiring head coaches has been bad since we let Thibodeau go. We're behind in analytics, but improving in that area. I think the rebuild has gone okay, but finishing it is the difficult part that GarPax couldn't solve or address.
  12. It's damn hard to be worse than the Ricketts... The Koch brothers and Rupert Murdock are definitely worse. The Kushner family. The Sackler family. I'm pretty sure the next owners will be better than the current POS owners we have right now... I mean I don't love silicon valley technocrats, but they're infinitely better than the evil, rich Republican billionaire assholes we have to deal with.
  13. Nothing really revelatory in here. They talk about the farm system and the changes in player development. They mention the D'backs as a team the Cubs could emulate that is both competing and rebuilding the farm at the same time. The D'backs have traded some good players to bolster their farm system so it's not a totally accurate comparison.
  14. [tweet] [/tweet]Yeah, I got my copy last week. It's a fantastic book and I haven't finished it. It might be the Moneyball for this decade. It's already one of my favorite baseball books and a great way to support Eric and Kiley for all their hard work. It starts with an awesome excerpt from Skyfall and how it relates to scouts and baseball. They put a lot into this book and it shows. There is an interesting story early in the book about Tim Wilken and the Cubs' draft room in 2007. I thought he was super high on Josh Vitters, but he actually wanted Jarrod Parker. Both ended up being disappointing picks, but it was a cool story. I'm not a fan of the trying to find a consensus in the room approach; identify your best scout(s) and/or national crosschecker and let them go to work. Everyone in the room wanted Vitters except for Tim Wilken, apparently. The book is very informative, especially for people unfamiliar with scouting. I get crap for saying this, but I already know a lot of the stuff in this book. Like how an assistant GM doesn't decide to go backwards on the organizational hierarchy to become a scouting director lol (salary is far worse)... that isn't normal. I'm biased but I think It's better than The Arm, it's better than Keith Law's first book, it's better than Moneyball. It's great and I hope they collaborate again on another book down the road.
  15. It's not over. I'll wait for the whole process to be over before judging it. It's the Bulls so yeah, we'll probably learn some embarrassing details later on.
  16. If we can't land Bobby Webster then I hope this is the guy we choose to lead the Bulls going forward.
  17. [tweet] [/tweet]Man, I totally forgot about this. Almost felt like an insult to Scottie. That shitty bust is terrible...
  18. [tweet] [/tweet]That's super weird and I've seen almost every kind of pitch grip. I honestly don't even understand the point of tucking in the middle finger here, like you would the index finger on a traditional knucklecurve grip. Just throw a split-change or some variation of that. I'm curious to see the Rapsodo numbers for this.
  19. Yeah, the Reinsdorfs would never do that and they're very loyal. Paxson either decides to step away or he sticks around. I have a better feeling about Boylen at least being dismissed right away. The players clearly don't like him and his record is trash. I think Forman isn't that great a scout/exec. Yeah, he helped find Jimmy Butler, but I think Butler deserves a ton of credit for improving and turning himself into a legit star player. I think both Forman and Paxson wanted to draft Doug McDermott and that was a terrible pick. I've heard the Reindorfs won't have a problem with the new hire firing Boylen and Forman, so that gives me some hope.
  20. Lol, I think I would find this more disconcerting than having no fans in the stands?
  21. It's generally considered a rule across all sports that you can't deny permission if another team is giving the guy a promotion. If they offer Bobby Webster a 'President of Basketball Operations' title then the Raptors would have to match that and they can't (Masai Ujiri holds that title). That is what the Cubs did to hire Theo away from the Red Sox.
  22. I have no inside info when it comes to basketball and the Bulls... Anecdotally speaking, it seems like Bobby Webster is the fans' choice and local sports media's choice for who they want the Bulls to hire. That Adam Simon guy seems like Paxson's choice. I can totally see Paxson being a fan of the Miami Heat and their culture of being assholes and playing with an edge. I hate the Miami Heat with a passion and I don't want to emulate them. ---- [tweet] [/tweet] Lol, the dude is friends with Drake (I'm not joking). Seriously, just hire Bobby Webster to make the fans happy and get some goodwill in the process. This isn't a tough call honestly.
