  1. Yeah they have to make the move with him . Can’t be throwing games away with him pitching
  2. Just put Asad in the rotation and let Taillon due long relief if they don’t want to cut him
  3. I thought that ball was way out . Wind blowing againts lefties ?
  4. I would probably try to deal Rea and that cheap option to clear a bullpen spot for someone with higher upside
  5. Jed has always had a man crush on Bregman . With that said if he thought Shaw could hit enough to be a a 3/4 war guy at 3B , believe me they wouldn’t have signed Bregman .
  6. Harvey is such a huge wc as well . When healthy and right he is definitely high leverage guy . It really will be interesting to see how many relievers they add at the deadline . Entirely possible that Palencia can’t do back to backs after he comes back
  7. I think they are counting g in Brown back at some point , and doesn’t sound like building him back as a SP is out if the question yet . Steele is iffy to say the least
  8. I have a really difficult time believing that the Cubs would have refuse to trade a player that had no path to regular playing time for a young control pitcher they like . The guys at the Athletic wrote several times about Early as a pitcher they like . If the Cubs liked Shaw so much why did they sign a 30+ year old 3B in the first place ? Especially a guy like Jed that is so careful with contracts . I think the answer is obvious . They weren’t sure about Shaw bat. What does Durbin have to do with any of this ? Of course they were looking for infield help . Everybody knew that . They were looking for a power bat however . They settled on Durbin as a last resort move. While I can’t say for sure which of the two teams didn’t want to make the move , I think it’s more likely it was the Red Sox who were reluctant , not the Cubs due to the reasons I already explained .
  9. He doesn’t , too early to write him off. With that said Mead is just a better hitter currently .
  10. Red Sox were known to be looking for offense , Shaw doesn’t offer the bat that Mead has right now . What do you mean by the little breakout ? Give Mead his credit . He is sporting a 134 Wrc . That’s how guys become good players , by breaking out . Some are able to do so , some don’t . Shaw is basically a cheap lefty masher with versatilty at this point . My focus on my post was offense . Mead is simply a better and more productive hitter right now . Cubs couldn’t match that . With that said , I do agree with the poster who replied to me earlier , and said Early really isn’t the pitcher to help them in a playoff run this year . If the Red Sox thought Shaw would give them the offense they were looking for , a trade would have probably happened in the offseason . I bet the Cubs would have jumped on that deal .
  11. Well this one looks really rough on paper . The good news is they already clinched the series . I start watching but if Taillon gives up some dings early , i probably turned it off . Ashcraft is filthy .
  12. 134 wRc for Mead . That came out of nowhere . Cubs didn’t have a good young bat that compares to that production unfortunately . Early would have been a good fit with the cubs
  13. Job well done . Regardless I d what happens tomorrow , they did what needed to be done . Hopefully they can at least split the 4 in St Louis and let Jed get some pitching in the next 10 days
  14. If the Angels ask for Rojas and Adyers in a Detmers package ? Yes or no ?
  15. Shota also made an adjustment and I locating himself on the 3rd base side of the rubber . Results have been better since the adjustment .
  16. Yeah I read that Hollowell added a changeup . Hex was getting hammered by lefties
  17. Dbacks won . They are actually closer to the Cubs and than the Cards and Pirates
  18. Huge win . Find a way to win one of the next 2 and I will be super happy .
  19. That ball was hit hard but Hollowell seems to have taken a step forward since his latest call
  20. Pirates are really impressive with these arms . Their time has come
  21. Yeah I have no problem with dealing Mo or Ayers . With that said extremely unlikely they will be able to trade for 2 SP . They will have trouble getting one as it is . Edit : I guess if the Mariners don’t ask for much else after Shaw , perhaps it could happen .
  22. You guys think the Angels view Ballesteros as a true catching option ?
  23. I think the Cubs will end up trading for Gausman With that said I think Detmers is number # 1 on their board. Could be very important againts a team like the Phillies in a short series
