Red Sox were known to be looking for offense , Shaw doesn’t offer the bat that Mead has right now . What do you mean by the little breakout ? Give Mead his credit . He is sporting a 134 Wrc . That’s how guys become good players , by breaking out . Some are able to do so , some don’t .
Shaw is basically a cheap lefty masher with versatilty at this point . My focus on my post was offense . Mead is simply a better and more productive hitter right now . Cubs couldn’t match that .
With that said , I do agree with the poster who replied to me earlier , and said Early really isn’t the pitcher to help them in a playoff run this year .
If the Red Sox thought Shaw would give them the offense they were looking for , a trade would have probably happened in the offseason . I bet the Cubs would have jumped on that deal .
