  1. Regardless of what happens , it’s nice to finally see and hear about movement on the SP market
  2. Will Sammon and Heyman follow this account btw . No mention of the Cubs. Maybe he is just focused on the AL east teams with his mentions , so let’s see what happens
  3. The Korean 3B deadline is also in the coming week I believe .
  4. That Kelly deal smells like trouble for the Cubs and their limited budget . If a 37 year old is getting 20 per year , the chances of the them getting a top tier SP went down in my opinion .
  5. I don’t think they have any money left for a significant pen add. It’s something like Stanek and a bunch of Collin Snyder ‘s from this point on , if they are willing to do one more guarantee .
  6. There’s some noise coming out of a Japan about the Yankees interest in Imai . 2 reports in the last 24 linking them . When does Hoyer drop out of the bidding ? When it reaches 23 on AAV ? Only positive is if Imai goes to NYY , takes them out on King , but Kings market seems robust as well .
  7. Not upset because of Suarez . I am upset about Williams . 5 years younger than Suarez and signed for only 3 with deferrals . On top of that , his preference was to sign with the Cubs . I guess I can take it if they end up with Imai and to a lesser degree King . If they end up with Gallen however , I will punch Hoyer in the face
  8. According to Levine , the Cubs made a 3 year offer to Devin Williams and his preference was to sign with the Cubs . They just didn’t approach 51 million 😂
  9. Yeah , Imai is going to be costly folks . I think he goes for something like 150 for 6 and with the posting fee it will be around 175 . I do think he is their priority right now . Despite reports that he is meeting with teams next week , Boras said yesterday there are no visits schedule . They need to narrow the list before doing visits . Hopefully he won’t wait until the very end of the deadline
  10. Alonso to the Orioles . Makes Bregman to the Cubs less of a possibility IMO .
  11. I don’t know how legit this account is , but Jeff Passan follows him :
  12. I didn’t hear Rogers , but apparently he said that there is a feeling that the Red Sox , Padres , Cubs are the teams that could make a move soon ( trade )
  13. Heyman did mention the Cubs among the possible fits for Schwarber , but it seem like complete speculation to me .
  14. Dodgers didn’t want a long term deal , so no problem . They just threw 23 on AAV to Diaz on a 3 year deal , just to have some fun and get in on the offseason action 😂
  15. The latest from Jesse Rogers : SP mentions - Imai / King relievers - Suarez / Fairbanks / Stanek / Matz / Milner Thielbar and Pomeranz not out of the question Keller could price himself out of Cubs range
  16. Yeah , Heyman has talk a good bit about Imai and the Cubs today . He believes there is a decent chance the Cubs sign him ( FWIW ) . I guess I feel more optimistic because the Dodgers don’t seem like they are involved . Giants and Mets are giving signs that they don’t want to do long term deals for SP . Red Sox have already added 2 SP and they seem focused on bats now . I don’t know , maybe they have a chance . I think Imai is their number # target with King as the main backup plan . I don’t think King is signing before Imai
  17. Have a feeling these meetings will be boring . Starting pitching market is been held up by Imai , so I don’t expect anything from the Cubs until that happens ( meaningful mean ) . I could see Stanek this week 😂
  18. So they are adding only 1 more reliever and it will be from the dumpster dive category . Great news
  19. Don’t like it
  20. Cubs are listed as one of the 3 serious suitors for Ranger Suarez , by Feinsand on mlb.com . Astros and Orioles the other two . People have sort of write him off because of the strikeouts comments by Hoyer and all the lefties they have , but I wouldn’t rule him out . Hoyer is more than anything else a value hunter . If he feels Suarez will give him the best value among the top SP , he won’t hesitate IMO , and Imanaga and Boyd are due for FA after the season anyway.
