None of those players are everyday guys , that’s why I listed them . They will need to find a backup 3B . They don’t have anybody on the roster that can do it .

If he isn’t making visits , then yeah he can wait until the 2nd . I think the Cubs will end up with Gallen TBH . While Nightendale obviously jumped the gun with his tweet earlier , i doubt he was completely making things up The AAV he mentioned n that tweet seems about right ( QO value 22 mil ). I think 4 / 88 or something like that After that they will probably sign Ramon Urías and call it an offseason

Was looking at possible 3B that could fit in the tight budget after they sign a SP and there isn’t much out there . Dejong Moncada R. Urías Kinner Falefa Andujar Andujar is technically a 3B , but is atrocious on defense and he hit well last year , so he probably is out of their price range .

Kaplan says he is hearing the Cubs aren’t seriously involved on Imai , unless it’s a shorter term deal .

Read that Heyman said the Cubs are 1 of 6 teams in on Okamoto . Nice fit but the Blue Jays and Red Sox are involved . Other 3 are Dbacks / Angels / Pirates .

I know they have a higher payroll , I meant they spend more than the Cubs this offseason even though there were rumblings they had money to spend . With that said Rosenthal reported today that the Padres will need to move money from this point on first , before any moves . Cubs will probably spend more this offseason than them .

I don’t think Imai is getting 8 / 190 . However , I think the Cubs will likely top out at 6 / 138 ( 23 on AAV ) . Would that be enough ? Doubt it .

The info that’s coming out on Imai makes no sense whatsoever . So we are 13 days away from his deadline with Christmas and new year in the middle of that . He hasn’t visit any teams yet , and doesn’t have any schedule visits . That’s super weird . Has to be complete BS .

Not so sure a trade will be an option after that Baz trade . General opinion on it that I have read , is that it was a big price . .

Maybe he did at some point , but I do remember him during the winter meetings saying Tucker to the Cubs smoke was real . Thing with Rogers is that sometimes I am not sure if what he says is his opinion or based on what he is hearing . I do think he is reliable with the info he gets .

If the Cubs aren’t going to sign King, then my preference is that he signs with the Yankees . That’s the team that’s been connected to Imai the most lately . King takes them out of that I would think . Don’t see the Red Sox pivoting to Imai . If the Yankees sign King , that would leave the Orioles and Phillies as the main competition most likely . I am saying this , because it does look like there is smoke about King signing relatively soon .

Yeah , considering that from December 24th , until January 2nd , it’s basically a dead period , I would expect a flurry of moves until the 23rd . I have some hope that Imai makes his decision before the holidays . For that to happen however , he probably would need to have a couple of finalist already and probably make visits this week . Seems unlikely
