    I read somewhere that Heyman said today the Cubs are willing to eat some money now . I wonder what the Yankees think Bellinger is worth on AAV , 18 million ?

    I think Cassie makes more sense for the Astros than Smith . They can put him in RF right away and use the money they offered to Bregman on Christian Walker

    If the Cubs do this , they better follow up by getting an impact starter and a couple of late inning arms . Money better be there for those moves . If not , this whole thing would not make sense IMO.

    I think the Yankees could get both TBH . They need 2 OF and a 1B . They are in on everybody it seems i seriously doubt they are going to let the Cubs get Tucker .

    I dont like their chances if the Yanks offer Luis Gil . Rice could fit what they are looking for as well . Cubs may need to take Pressly to have a better chance.

    These meetings have been really boring so far . Would have expected more by now , with all the talk about things getting crazy after Soto . I know still a couple of days left , but really slow so far .

    Hopefully this isnt a situation where they have to make a trade before a signing . I dont think Kelly will be there on the market too much lo longer . Its basically down to him in terms of catching options If they dont get Kelly , pretty good chance Thais will be the back up

    There s enough smoke on this that i think Its going to happen after Soto signs . If what they are hoping for is unload the entire salary , then the Yankees are the best fit . They wont get anything back on this scenario though . Curious as to what they would do after because i dont think they are doing anything big on offense .

    Not surprise at all . I do think that they are facing some sort of payroll cut . While it may not be big , it does have an impact . We have to remember that they dont use all available money in the off season . If they are facing a 10 mil or so cut then they would have like 40 left and when you factor the money for in season , then i wouldnt be surprised if they have closer to 30 available , ínstead of 50 . So far they have traded for a cheap reliever that pitched more like 4:00 era guy last season , sign two pre arbi deals with a couple guys out of options that some could argue should have been non tendered . Finally traded for a junk back up catcher candidate. The moves they are making point to an executive , who is facing payroll cut IMO . I think their best bet to try and compete, would be keeping Bellinger , trading for a cost control SP and signing Sasaki . Use the limited funds they have after that and get 1 or two real reliever s and a couple of bench bats .
