  1. It got lost at the bottom of page 6. Funny how the Cubs started the rally after the soccer game was over. It’s like you could have watched two awesome things happen! Can you watch it being over though? It's just over - can't really "see" that. :dontknow:
  2. i remember aducci specifically because a scouting report compared him to mark grace It's a solid comparison - they both hit lefty. Adducci lags behind a bit on the impregnated Chili's Hostesses I believe. I did once say he'd have better career than Tyler Colvin - I guess it's been longer so I'm going move that one to the win column.
  3. Look at former Tennessee Smokie great and 42nd round draft pick Jim "Crash" Aducci getting a start at 1B! He's gotta have some battle scars on him by now.
  4. Javy now tied for the lead in RBI and Almora tied for 1st in batting!!!
  5. It's a little odd - I feel every time Javy puts the ball in play it's a small victory - yet, I do also feel a little sad when its only a single.
  6. Pretty much the best possible game outcome for me. I have Kershaw on my fantasy team - a good 5 innings and then the cubs go ape horsefeathers on the bullpen
  7. I'm a little torn between wanting Javy to bat again but being afraid of that resulting in another Rizzo AB>
  8. He's going to be at 40 pitches before he gets out of the 1st.
  9. http://31.media.tumblr.com/7143a670544381ee0dac141ca1d38614/tumblr_mwqahaR91Q1rh2tw8o1_400.gif Pervert You're thinking of Carrie Underwood.
  10. horsefeathering whatisrizzo! Well that's the last time Javy walks.
  11. Well if they are going to take Jeffery Baez and Keri Russel for Machado they can have Happ AND Leonard.
  12. He's In The Middle of that photograph. He was also the cop on the subway at the end of the Fugitive! He's everywhere...for about 3 seconds.
  13. I enjoy hearing about ex-cubs, especially prospects and couldn't find a obvious thread. Christian Villanueva, now a Padre, hit 3 hrs against the Rockies on Tuesday and now has 7 hrs in his first 14 games as an MLBer. 1 of 3 in MLB history to do that - I expected a Kevin Maas or a Jim Traber to be one of the two but it was Bobby Estalella and Jarrett Parker or who and who?
  14. His younger brother might end up being a pitcher who makes it all the way to the big leagues. He is a serious prospect in this year's draft. His name is Cole Sands, and is a RHP (not a lefty) at Florida State. Pretty talented. I have this weird theory (untested, but I need to study it more) that younger brothers of prospects or younger siblings in general tend to develop into better players/prospects. The younger brothers get to play with their older brothers/friends and watch and observe them. My youngest brother is the tallest and probably best athlete in the family. I haven't studied it too much, but it seems to hold true in many instances. Theories are better when they are based on data. Your theory has... a lot of holes. Well that's why it's a theory and not a rule. Even rules have exceptions. I observed a little microcosm of this personally. For a couple of years my son and I lived with my sister and her family. My nephew (5 years older than my son) and his friends were big soccer players and they often let my son play with them. My son was eventually asked not to return to his house league soccer team because he was too good. It had gotten to the point where they were limiting his playing time because he was scoring too many goals. We later moved and he wasn't playing as often with my nephew and his friends and he eventually regressed to his peers. The sibling aspect isn't the crux, it's the exposure to advanced competition that the situation can result in. Obviously if you have an Arnold - Danny Devito or Jose - Ozzie situation it won't matter. But there are several reasons why this can lead to better development. I know agreeing isn't as sexy as being contrarian, but there you have it.
  15. Who's Hawk Harrelson?
  16. yeah, i mean, just look at our staff in the first half of last year a down half isn't the same as having a full on bad year. If you are asking for surprises you can't eliminate your top notch starting staff doing poorly as a potential surprise. I'd be surprised if the staff as a whole had a down year - any one of the individual pitchers - not at all.
  17. I'm well past the point of being surprised if any pitcher puts up a bad year. I'll throw out 2: 5 Cubs finish in the top 10 in MVP voting (6 if you count Harper) Russell has a season closer to 2017 than 2016
  18. That's some next level math right there. He's going to feel like a fool though when it turns out Yu can opt out after 0 years.
  19. Thank the horsefeathers!!
  20. Yeah, I saw that. Wasn't 100% sure it was him.
  21. Why not your left nut? He gave that one up to sign Heyward.
  22. He's going get a ton more playing time with the DBacks, no?
  23. Who the hell boils lasagna? Have fun with your rubbery.....pasta sauce They are freaks BUT... its not the same as boiling.
  24. If you look only at last year, the four are pretty much even by average of bWAR and fWAR: Arenado 6.4 WAR Ramirez 6.8 WAR Rendon 6.4 WAR Bryant 6.4 WAR Of course, that also ignores the fact that KB was the best 3B in both versions of WAR in 2016, 2 wins better than Arenado and 3.5 better than both of the other two. And it's not like Bryant is in his 30's where his best days might be behind him. Yeah if you want to say just in 2017 then...whatever - differences in WAR like those are meaningless but I don't know how you rank Ramirez ahead of Bryant.
