Javy Segura Rosario? Severino Kershaw Flaherty I'm leaning towards Mallex Smith? Is it worth holding on to Gary Sanchez? Danny Jansen worth a flyer? Carlos Martinez injury concerns too great? Wheeler for real? I've contemplated trading Kershaw and not feeling Segura 100%.

3. Well those that don't learn from their mistakes are doomed to repeat them. I assume you mean "players union caving too easily" No teams paying 80+ million for 2.3 war over 8 years + 2 additional seasons when he didn't even pitch.
4. Well those that don't learn from their mistakes are doomed to repeat them.
5. Heyward did it at 26 Carlos Baerga at a similar age to Heyward - not as dramatic but Heyward is buoyed by his defense...plus any free agent the Cubs signed during the 80's and early 90's. Joe Mauer? Howard Johnson?
6. I somehow doubt that Iowa is going to carry six catchers. Jim Adducci?!?!?! Who says you can't go home again!
7. That said, the Cubs have a top 5 payroll, will continue have one. They have been more competitive this last 5 years than any other time in my lifetime or yours (I haven't checked the numbers, but I'd image even averaging in the "tank" years, they've set an 8 year high in W/L record at this point) due to quality hires and open wallets. I want Bryce and will be dissappointed if they don't get him. But to expect the Ricketts to be anything but what we knew they were walking in is just silly. They're investors and they're doing pretty well with this investment, both in terms of its success and thier profit. tl;dr. Baseball is a business. You don't have to like it, but its true. The Ricketts' are good at business and the Cubs are more successful than ever, while the Ricketts are making tons of money, which is kind of what bankers do. The goal of owning a business is to make money. The goal of owning a sports team is to win titles. If you want to make money, spend your $900 million owning a profitable business. If you want to own a sports team, do everything you can to win a title. You're making assumptions.
8. I'd say you could argue that without the 2 work stoppages he would have had 3,000 hits and 400 Hrs (maybe) which at one point were pretty solid bell weathers. He wouldn't have made my list but it's unfortunate that a player who was always such a class act is now subjected to a constant barrage of criticism for a situation that is in no part his doing.
9. Fixed that for you.
10. Not only has Bryant borrowed his Grandma's love beads but he appears to have borrowed her left boob as well. Nobody else thinks Bryant/Harper at a Nelly concert is odd - or is Nelly Mormon too?
11. This was my first thought as well.
12. He's been banged up good for 2 years. I wouldn't assume that physical's a sure thing.
13. He also likes having women watch while jerking off in the bullpen I was unaware he was Louis CK. It's the other way around.
14. Well now you see why.
15. Yeah I was pretty surprised when one of the announcers said Bogarts, Holt and maybe one other gut were the only holdovers from the last title.
16. It horsefeathering drives me up the wall that people actually use the term fake news, and also don't horsefeathering understand what it even horsefeathering means. Sorry. Continue everyone. What's it mean?
17. That is so cool. No jerseys or baseball caps in 1938 I guess? LOL
18. You're right, that does sound crazy. I'm of the opinion that Heyward's Cub career will mirror that of Moises Alou in that while initially a disappointment he will get better each year. Heyward's contract is longer so the incremental increases will be more gradual. :hello:
19. Acknowledging that's the reason isn't crying and moaning. An unbelievable 2 years doesn't really equate to an unbelievable month.
20. Rizzo has to get as assist on that I think.
21. Chances of Javy finishing with Over 35 walks by seasons end: 73%
22. Chances of Javy finishing with Over 35 walks by seasons end: 69.5% Chances of Javy finishing with Over 35 caught stealing by seasons end: Also 69.5%
23. Hell if he pulls it to the second baseman I bet Javy Scores too.
24. Chances of Javy finishing with Over 35 walks by seasons end: 68%!
