  1. Phillies with a 1st inning 1-0 lead over the Padres.
  2. It certainly worked out for them last time.
  3. They’re running on Haniger’s arm every time.
  4. Pirates just tied it up, 3-3, bottom of the 6. Inning still going.
  5. Wild how few prominent Phillies/A’s there have been considering the age of the two franchises and the fact that they were in the same town for over 50 years.
  6. Dude cost himself 10s of millions of dollars. Have fun in the Mexican League, dirtbag.
  7. Steele always looks gassed. He’s dripping sweat after the first pitch of the game.
  8. Wow. Go into court for a hearing and walk out to some good news! The pen is lined up perfectly for game 2. Just need 3, 2 and 2 innings from some combination of Greene, Smyly and Wesneski and then close out with Leiter and Alzolay. Then head into Saturday in relatively good shape for the rest of the series.
  9. With the bottom of the order coming up that makes sense. Then if the Cubs tack on more next inning maybe you can even save Alzolay.
  10. Take the lead here. Try to get one inning from Palencia before going Merryweather - Leiter - Alzolay. Keep Greene, Wes, Smyly and Keegan all possible multi-innings tonight.
  11. Wasn’t always pretty, but can’t really ask for better than 1 run in 5 innings from Wicks.
  12. 19-10 would be a pretty impressive finish to the year. It’s improbable, but not unthinkable. They’ve been playing at about that pace since around the ASB.
  13. Is there a point where Trout says, “Trade me or I’m hanging it up?” He’s 31. He’s had health problems several seasons in a row. He’s got 7 years left on his contract. The Angles are not going to be good any time soon. Might it not be best for all involved for Trout to go somewhere else and the Angles pick up a bevy of prospects?
  14. So, practically speaking, any of these players would have to get past the Marlins, Reds, Giants, Red Sox (if they still think they’re in it), D-backs, and Twins before they got to the Cubs.
  15. You’re right. Took me a bit to Google it because most of the top results were outdated. It seems since the elimination of the waiver trade deadline a couple years ago, nobody actually cares how waivers work any more.
  16. Matt Moore would be exactly what the Cubs roster needs. No way he makes it all the way through the AL, though.
  17. Blame Nazis and Communists.
  18. I know the Brewers have been hitting a ton during this streak they’re on, but in the aggregate, they’ve been a really bad offensive team. They only have two regulars having at least above average seasons (Yelich and Contreras). Their third best regular in OPS+ is Adames with 89. They’re 14th in the NL in batting average, 11th in OBP, 15th in SLG and 15th in OPS. The Cubs score .67 runs more a game than they do. If the Brewers win games 3-2, 2-1, ok, whatever. Tip the cap. Their pitchers shut the Cubs down. But if they score a bunch of runs, that will be really annoying.
  19. This is why I could never be a GM. I’d be handing Fulmer his DFA in the tunnel between the dugout and the shower.
