Dan Snyder bought Washington along with a brand new stadium in 1999 for $800 million. He ran that franchise into the ground, had to remove seats from the stadium to avoid being blacked out, and engaged in - at best - boorish, if not criminal, behavior while running the team, until essentially being forced to sell by the NFL.
During his 24 years of ownership, Washington has a grand total of 1 playoff victory (coming in the first year) and 5 winning seasons.
He agreed to sell the team today for $6.05 billion, better than quadrupling his investment when adjusted for inflation.
NFL owners are Bond villains.
