  1. If I’m counting right, the Cubs had 13 SB attempts in the 11 games coming into this series and now 11 SB attempts in the 2 1/2 games in this series so far. is it something about the Dodgers? The warmer weather? Or have the Cubs decided to run more in general?
  2. Dan Snyder bought Washington along with a brand new stadium in 1999 for $800 million. He ran that franchise into the ground, had to remove seats from the stadium to avoid being blacked out, and engaged in - at best - boorish, if not criminal, behavior while running the team, until essentially being forced to sell by the NFL. During his 24 years of ownership, Washington has a grand total of 1 playoff victory (coming in the first year) and 5 winning seasons. He agreed to sell the team today for $6.05 billion, better than quadrupling his investment when adjusted for inflation. NFL owners are Bond villains.
  3. I hadn’t looked at their schedule. Woof! Boston is a decent team, but a lot of teams besides the Rays would have a decent chance of going 9-0 in 9 games against the Tigers, Nats and A’s. That’s 9 straight against teams that will probably all lose 95+.
  4. How long do Mervis and Morel need to OPS 1.000 at Iowa before the Cubs’ prudence becomes intransigence? The Cubs have never made a habit of letting their prospects wallow in the minors. If Morel and Mervis keep clubbing the ball, I expect them up sooner than later. I’m rooting hard for Velazquez to make it impossible for them to send him back down when Suzuki is ready to come back.
  5. Shohei Ohtani is completely ridiculous. That is all. That’s my post.
  6. Turned it on just in time to see the replay of Suarez’s HR and then a laser of a double before my butt hit the couch. Wesneski looking shaky.
  7. I would like to see a bullpen with Alzolay and Thompson combining for roughly 160 innings and an ERA in the low 3s.
  8. Mastrobuoni looking at his last start in Right for awhile actually lays out for one.
  9. Apple TV really is a PITA, but -man!- that picture is amazing. Not sure what kind of cameras they’re using, but that’s as good a picture as you’ll get anywhere.
  10. Who heads out? Torrens and Merryweather?
  11. Is Dellin Betances really the example Girardi wants to use to set Cubs fans’ minds at ease about Keegan’s velocity issues? ”He was slow during Spring Training, but would then be up at 99 by the start of the season…” And then his arm fell off at age 30.
  12. I’m still not convinced that he and Vogelbach aren’t the same person.
  13. Little disappointed we’re not seeing more action on the base paths. I’d like to see Swanson moving here.
  14. Bellinger hits .250 with 25 hrs, plays top shelf D and is a 4.5+ WAR player. 1B/DH continues to be a black hole, with nobody ever stepping up to fill either spot. Cubs pitching staff ends up top 6 in the League in ERA.
