  1. How many teams are in this league? You're going to hit a ton but the pitching needs help pretty badly. You also look like on steals. I'd consider trading somebody like Braun or Pujols for pitching. Pujols is a health risk and for as high as Braun is going in drafts and the amount of value he has, there are a lot of variables with him. I'd sell on high on him.
  2. If walks or OPS is a category in that league, I wouldn't trade Hamels for Crawford. The only way I'd do it is if you're in desperate need of steals. And I take back my statement about Harden. I didn't realize he was "healthy". If he can pull a rabbit out of his ass and be healthy he'll be very valuable. I'd drop Longoria or Bruce as they probably won't see much time this year.
  3. 2004 CF - Corey Patterson 2B - Mark Grudzielanek RF - Sammy Sosa LF - Moises Alou 1B - Derek Lee 3B - Aramis Ramirez SS - Alex Gonzalez C - Michael Barrett ???? Plus Nomar, kind of. That lineup was pretty stacked. Oh yeah...I forgot about Nomar. ](*,) ](*,) With the addition of Nomar, that was definitely a stacked lineup. Thinking about the potential of that rotation is even more disgusting. I remember 2-3 games after we got Nomar, we were in Colorado for a series, and we were just basically taking turns batting around the order with everyone getting their hits, and I thought that there were basically no holes in the lineup. Whoops forgot about OBP. The lineup was like Patterson, CF Garciaparra, SS Alou, LF Sosa, RF Ramirez, 3B Lee, 1B Walker, 2B Barrett, C The OBP on that team wasn't all that bad. Ramirez- .373 Nomar- .364 Alou- .361 Lee- .356 Walker- .352 Barrett- .337 Barrett- 337 Sosa- .332 Patterson- .320 Not great, but not atrocious. I think we were right at the league average that year in terms of team OBP.

Thinking about the potential of that rotation is even more disgusting. Yeah, that season almost bummed me out more than 2003 just because of how stacked that team was on paper. That really was the year to win it all.
  5. Patterson Lee Nomar Alou Sosa Ramirez Grudz Barrett That lineup looked pretty deadly.

  7. By the way, Bruce Levine said today that talks are in no way off and that the 2 teams are making a final push to try and get a trade done.
  8. Rosenthal says the Cubs aren't interested: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7949132/Sources:-Roberts-to-Cubs-looking-unlikely
  9. Did anybody notice that Rosenthal doesn't sound as sure in the updated article? http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7949132/Sources:-Roberts-to-Cubs-looking-unlikely
  10. it's a good thing he chimed in, what with the accuracy he's displayed up to this point and all YOU BITE YOUR TONGUE
  11. Definitely Harden. The guy is a bum and even if he stays healthy (ha) he won't be getting many wins with that arocious offense. If Pedro stays healthy he's the type of guy that will be able to produce even if he can't throw hard.
  12. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7949132/Sources:-Roberts-to-Cubs-looking-unlikely Way to waste 3 months on Roberts and leave us stuck with a top of the order of Theriot/Soriano, Jimbo. the only reason we're stuck with theriot/soriano is because lou piniella is dumb enough to hit theriot at leadoff. And because Hendry decided not to try and upgrade the shortstop position. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand because Lou Piniella decided to bat Theriot leadoff.... If he wasn't batting leadoff, Lou would have hit him second. Either way, he should have been replaced, and that is Jim's job. Jom is to blame for not replacing him, and Lou is to blame for making it even worse.

  15. The 2007 Travis Hafner is worth mentioning.
  16. I thought so too, but the above comment about Marquis makes it sound like he'll be in it, and I'd be surprised not to see Dempster get a spot after Lou has been selling him so hard since ST started. Couple that with the article that came out last week about Lieber saying he'd be happy to pitch out of the bullpen, I think it will be Dempster and Marquis.
  17. I bet it will be Dempster and Marquis.
  18. That makes it sound like Marquis will get a spot.
  19. I don't really agree with those projections. Also, if either of those guys is used as anything more than a platoon partner, then we're in deep trouble. The fact that DaVanon might be a better-than-Johnson-but-still-pretty-crappy option for full time duties doesn't sweeten the deal any to me.. We'd need help elsewhere if Pie can't even hit enough to stay in the lineup against righties.
  20. Johnson is 3 years younger and has a much nicer looking career split vs. lefties than Davanon does. I'd uch rather have Johnson.
