  1. Bud Selig just doesn't get it.
  2. Done a decent job of it so far, He's walked 5 in 10.1 innings.
  3. Volquez will never be great unless he gets his walks under control.
  4. Well I want to win, so player 2.
  5. See, that's 34th in all of baseball. He said 34th in the league, which I thought sounded bogus. He's 17th in the league.
  6. Is VORP a good stat to use for pitchers? Because last year he was 34th in the league. 34th among starters? That makes no sense. So he's a number 2? He said 34th in the league, not in baseball. If that's 34th among starting pitchers, then I don't get it. How could there have possibly been 33 starters in the NL ahead of him last season?

  8. I hope you're joking about the bolded part. As of right now, Hill should be lucky to call himself a major league starter. Umm, why? He had 1 bad start. ONE.
  9. Apparently you guys aren't getting this guy's (weak) joke.
  10. How about Lohse? That dude hasn't given up a run in 2 starts. I can't wait until they pick up Francis Beltran.
  11. I was super drunk at a party at EIU last weekend. There was a guy there wearing a cards hat and he was satisfied with the decision to send Rasmus to the minors because he thought Skip Schumaker is a good player. That reminds of this party I went to at UF about a year ago where I was talking to a kid with a Cards hat on who kept calling Albert Pujols "Alfred Pujols". At first I thought I misunderstood him but he kept saying it. I don't think that kid was even drunk either. I was though.
  12. Agreed. Use more Cedeno/Fontenot at SS too, as it seems Theriot is most productive when his back is against the wall. By "most" I mean "somewhat." yea its starting to look like a bigger gap then i thought there..... this team would be so much more solid with roberts. why dont we throw in one of those 3. and murton and gallager and ceda.... uhhh. You realize that Roberts doesn't play shortstop, right?
  13. Yeah, he slugs .857 in April/May for his career. OPS. It was obvious you meant OPS, but when you do the #/#/# thing it generally is average/obp/slugging.
  14. I know it wasn't the point of your post, but Roberts wasn't dealing with the same stuff. Roberts would be starting at second base on a team no matter what.
  15. Man, entrance music for closers is so cheesy. It's even worse for a closer in Wrigley since the bullpen is right next to the field and non-enclosed. It's bascally music for a 5 second walk to the mound. Pretty lame.
  16. Don't dare point out obvious observations on this board, or people will accuse you of being silly due to the fact that things like this can't be proved. I agree with what you said. Tell me, why do you think Soriano doesn't play hard? I think he does to a certain extent, but then there are times where he gets way too careless. The non-error on the ball hit by Tejada is the type of stuff I'm talking about. He was way too casual when he went to play that ball. He kind of just jogged over figuring it was a routine double and then "oops". I understand that errors happen, but he seems to be too nonchalant sometimes. I also remember at least 2 or 3 times last season when he gave up on fly balls because he was scared of the wall when in reality he was nowhere near the wall.

  18. Soriano without question.
  19. Trading Marmol wouldn't make this bullpen stink. The Cubs have the luxury of selling high on a player like Marmol and still having a competitive or better bullpen. I strongly disagree.
  20. Greene is a flyball hitter playing in a park that is a flyball hitter's nightmare. His career line away from Petco- .280/.335/.515. That's an .849 career ops. Combine that with the fact that he's an elite fielder and you have one monumental upgrade over Ryan Theriot. I'm not saying we should or sohuld not trade Marmol for him, but trying to talk down how good he is because of his low OBP while not mentioning what park he plays in is pretty silly.
  21. In the "Ryan Theriot Appreciation Thread" some guy said this:
  22. I don't think anybody hates Theriot, they're just smart enough to realize that he isn't good at baseball. My mom isn't good at baseball but I don't hate her.
  23. Ramirez wins games.
