  1. Or hitting a home run that's the difference in the game, like on Friday. Remember that one time Neifi hit a game winning grand slam in extras at St. Louis? I do. So Neifi and Kosuke are comparable now? Good to know. Of course they're not. My point is that you can't talk up how good of a player Kosuke is with a "he did this one great thing once" argument because you could make the same argument for crappy players like Neifi.

  3. That's been the biggest dissapointment to me also. All winter we heard about how he would drive a ton of balls into the gap. He's a productive player, but I wasn't expecting a slap hitter.
  4. And only idiots think the above-post is clever. Good one. I just think it's funny how bent out of shape people get when somebody voices any reasonable criticism about Fukudome.
  5. Fukudome's salary dictates what expectations should be. Huh? So Kosuke's game should go from high OBP and 20 HR's to Dunn-like power simply because someone chose to pay him big money? Sounds like the one(s) you should be criticizing are the guy(s) who set the mkt price for OF'ers of his skill level and then decided to compound the issue by continuing to pay it. Its not Koskue's fault that he got the contract he did. Money won't magically change what he is capable of. Who is blaming Kosuke? Nobody. He is who he is. It's not like badnews was all "Damn it Kosuke, what the hell is your problem? Start hitting home runs, moron." We're discussing this organization and it's quest to win a title with the resources available. We're discussing if Kosuke was worth the money invested. If a guy is getting paid 48 mil, then we have to consider whether or not he's worth that.
  6. Why would the Blue Jays give away Burnett for close to nothing? That would be a horrible deal for them.
  7. Cubs don't match up poorly with a Burnett deal. Though that could end up as a disaster in its own way I guess. He can be had for peanuts Why does everybody keep assuming that? What motivation does Toronto have to trade him if it's for "peanuts"? That doesn't make sense to me.
  8. The Rays are 7 ahead of Boston in the loss column now? Holy hell
  9. This is great and stuff, but I'm kind of worried that Hendry might use the "getting Hill back will be like trading for a good starter" thing on us and not get another starter.
  10. And then follows it up with a 2 base error on what should be a routine play. I was watching the game earlier and he made a routine play on a slow chopper from Coco Crisp and Jon Miller got all loud and excited and called it an outstanding play.
  11. O RLY? on the cubs' side: soto is way better than kendall derosa at this point is a little better than weeks ramirez is easily better than hall on the brewers' side: hardy is better than theriot fielder is marginally better than lee cameron is better than edmonds/johnson braun is way better than whoever's playing left in soriano's absence hart is probably slightly better than fukudome, but it's close the same mets that trail the brewers by either 5 or 6 games, pending the outcome of their game today? BP has the NL east at roughly a 10% chance of winning the wild card, so your confidence in this respect is unwarranted. Soto>Kendall Lee>Fielder DeRosa>Weeks Theriot Ramirez>Hall Hart Edmonds/Johnson>Cameron, when Edmonds and Johnson are properly platooned vs RHPs/LHPs Soriano Hart has been better than Fukudome, and Soriano has been better than Braun. Seriously, Braun hasn't been that good this year. He's slugging but his OBP is atrocious.
  12. So Jim Riggleman just ran out of pitchers in a tie game in the 15th against Detroit. He had to use backup catcher Jamie Burke, who promptly lost the game. Awesome.
  13. This might be wishful thinking, but it wouldn't really surprise me to see Sabathia kind of stink up the joint, at least not perform up to expectations. He's never seemed like a guy who handles pressure well, and I don't really like the way he mailed it in during all over his playoff starts last year
  14. ONLY BLASPHEMERS QUESTION KOSUKE
  15. At the beginning of June I traded him for Russell Martin in my money league. Nice. He went .214/.272/.350 in June
  16. Nobody is counting out the Red Sox just yet, same with the Yanks. But the feeling is, TB maybe just playing too well to be caught. Not saying it won't happen, but it will be tough for the Red Sox to catch the Rays unless 1 of 2 things happen: 1. They get a Ortiz healthy and hitting again. or 2: They get a impact hitter at the deadline. They're also going to need to do something about their pen.
  17. Fukudome's salary dictates what expectations should be.
  18. I may be wrong, but it really sounds like Bruce is sugarcoating things. We have the talent, but we don't match up? Yeah, in other words, we don't have jack. We've got a really good farm system. Its just not as good as all the other ones. Yeah, if by "really good" you mean terrible and one of the worst in baseball. I wouldn't call the Cubs system "one of the worst in baseball." That's being overdramatic. The Cubs got some good talent, but they are still in the early stages of development. I don't think it's being overdramatic at all. Last year Baseball America ranked the Cubs 20th and it's likely gotten worse since.

  21. I really think that team is winning the East. The Red Sox have a lot of question marks. It will be interesting to see how the Rays handle the deadline. Also, are they still planning on calling up Price at somepoint this season? Man, that rotation is going to be completely dominant pretty soon.
  22. So instead of 4.5 and 4.5, it's 2.5 and 3.5. Awesome. I fully expect it to be 1.5 and 2.5 tomorrow.
  23. I really think Lou believe Edmonds is still a great defender.
  24. The only way to get over it is to go get a hooker Then some Heroin, I mean a ton of it Then shoot a little while she waits Then Kill her before she gets any I promise after this you won't even think about this game again. thanks a lot a hole. she turned out to be a cop. Youd think she could have told me before step 4. You always have to ask. That is like common sense. Even if she was a cop though. Why not follow through with the rest of the plan? Yeah, the only thing better than killing nasty hookers is killing cops posing as nasty hookers.
  25. Brewers may not get him afterall- http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3474824 I still think they get him, but it's going to be costly.
