Sabbathia is a Cy Young winner. And is only under contract for 3 more months. How long has it been since the Cubs won? Who cares if we lose Sabbathia if that brings them closer to a WS which it will. Yes, it will bring us closer to a World Series for one season, then hurt our chances over the next several years. I think we have a better chance of winning a World Series in the next 5 years if we don't "go for it" to that extreme. I think people aren't realizing how bad our pen could be without a good Marmol anyways. The NL is down this year and the Cubs are up. After you have waited for 100 years why wait more when it is right there for the taking this year? Do Cub fans learn anything form history? Yes, I've learned that "going for it" and giving yourself one chance to win it rarely works out. And what does 100 years have to do with anything? I'm sick of that argument. Like I said, I'd rather have multiple chances to win it over the next several years then just getting one big shot this season. I want to win one, period. Spreading your chances out over multiple years gives the Cubs a better chance to win a championship.
