  1. I'm not sure, but I doubt it. I didn't think so either, but the ESPN guy made it sound that way.
  2. If Johnson was thrown out at first would the run have counted since Soriano crossed the plate first?
  3. And Kerry WOOD plays long ball!!!!!
  4. The Rockies have decided they're back in the race and pulled Fuentes and Holliday off the trading block. They're 6 games back in the sorriest division in the league, so I dont blame them. They might even become buyers. Jayson Stark said the reports of Fuentes being unavailable were premature. The Rockies are still listening to offers but aren't sure whether or not they'll trade him. If the scored hold up tonight they'll be 7 back of both L.A. and Arizona. I bet they'll trade him, but not to the Cubs.
  5. Yeah, it's kind of like those people who questioned Lou's overuse of Marmol in the first half. Clearly there was no reason to be concerned and we were stupid to question him. Marmol hasn't hit any bumps in the road since then at all.
  6. Man, I would have been very happy if we won just 1 of these first 2. To take both against Sabathia and Sheets is just awesome. Statement games for sure.
  7. 5 more guys reach and the tying run will get to the plate.
  8. Why is Marmol picking his face every time they show him in the pen?

  10. Dude, those guys work for the Cubs. Sheehan doesn't. Z is not a 18 year old pitcher, he's a horse. Don't worry, Lou will take him out but this pitch count crap is getting ridiculous. It's not like he has thrown 160 pitches. You're not getting it. 118 pitches in a 1-0 game is one thing. But the Cubs were up 6-0 going into the eighth inning which is why it was unnecessary to throw him out there for the eighth. Had it been 1-0, that would have been okay considering Z was pitching well. But it wasn't a close game which is why it wasn't smart to throw Z out there. Exactly. There is just NO reason to leave him in. There is nothing to gain and everything to lose.

It's not like he has thrown 160 pitches. this HAS to be dusty baker. No, I just probably know a lot more about Baseball then you. But carry on with those weak jokes. Gotta be Dusty

It's not like he has thrown 160 pitches. The Cubs have nothing to gain from him pitching the 9th and everything to lose. It's a completely unneccessary risk. I also think the recent shoulder strain HAS to at least be considered. I just don't see the reason to risk it. If Z goes down, forget it.
  13. Ramirez gained like 20 points on his OPS tonight.
  14. Maybe you should do some research on pitcher abuse. stressful innings MOST CERTAINLY influence pitcher abuse. I'm not saying that it doesn't. What I'm saying is that 118 pitches is still a lot of work, no matter how stressful they are.
  15. So is it safe to say that Shark is Lou's new toy? Good luck, kid.
  16. It looks like the Brewers have completely given up out there.
  17. You know that Zambrano recently had a shoulder strain and is coming off a 125 pitch outing, right? Seriously, that would be ridiculously reckless and irresponsible. Also, the "non stress" innings thing seems like an excuse to me. 118 pitches is still 118 pitches. We're up by 6 and have 2 months left to go. There is no reason to leave him in.
