I wonder what his stupid obsession will be next offseason

If you're defending trades to the media and fans, you're probably making stupid trades. yeah that too. he just sounds really bad here. kind of like when lou whined about steve phillips.

It seems like every offseason he has some stupid little obsession that he thinks is going to be the final piece to a World Series win. Pierre before 06. He pretty much admitted that before 2007 he had a crapload of money and was going to buy some big time slugger at all costs. That left us with 8/136 of Soriano. Then before 2007 it was Roberts even though we had a good 2B. Then this year it was the left handed crap.

Hendry sounds like a complete tool. Seriously, if you're defending trades to the media and the fans, then you probably need to rethink things.

What is everyone's obsession with Khalil Greene? He sucks. Except for 2007, he's always sucked, and he will continue to suck for as long as he plays baseball. We have enough sucky players on this team. We don't need any more. He's decent defensively, but do we need another guy who can't hit? Would it help if I put it in green font? I know you're kidding, but theres something about him and Bobby Crosby that everyone thinks their team can bring them back to their glory, which was 1 productive season. wrong

he's not working with him to suddenly teach him to play third, he's working with him so him and lou can find out if he's too crappy to play there

also this playoff run had a lot of good moments...which is why you watch the games

im not even really upset. detroit is just too good. i was hoping theyd get to end the season at home so the fans could cheer them off, but oh well. realistically, what were the expectations before the season? make the playoffs and make some noise in the first round? they exceeded those expectations by quite a bit

The playoffs are a crapshoot, you have admitted this. You cannot build a team to specifically win a crapshoot. You build the best team you can (97 wins), you prepare as best you can and then you take your chances. That's true, but it's a copout for this team. Don't act like they were just unlucky the last 2 seasons. They choked. They crapped their pants the second the postseason started. That's not Hendry's fault though. Hendry is the last person I'd blame for the playoffs. I blame the players and Lou. I was going to address this after your previous post, but how would you build a team of "non-chokers"? What players out there are certain not to choke in the playoffs? How can you or anyone tell? Will those players be good enough to win in the regular season? It's not as simple as just saying we'll build a team filled with clutch players who can handle pressure. Those players, as a whole, must be good enough to win in the regular season to make the postseason in the first place. Maybe they did choke the past two postseasons. If so, what would be your solution? Fire sale and start over? It was pretty much a team-wide slump, so it'd be inconsistent to get rid of some "chokers" and not others. What's the solution if that's your stance? Like I said, I don't blame Hendry for the playoffs the past 2 years. I was just pointing out that the "bad luck" or "small sample size" argument is a pretty weak one. They choked, flat out. They couldn't handle the moment. So yeah, my point wasn't to argue how to address that, because I don't know. I honestly thought bringing in Bradley was made more for that reason that anything, apart from being a lefty. I think Hendry saw what happened in the last 2 postseasons and he felt like he had to shakeup the chemistry. Not a bad idea really, but he went about it all wrong. So yeah, I don't have a solution and I'm not criticizing Hendry for the playoffs. Jus tsaying that it kind of sucks because as soon as we choked again last year, I became pretty confident that this core/mix/whatever won't win a title. I just don't see it. Of course I could be wrong and it's just my opinion. I'm just saying I don't see it.

I love these pictures, but to be fair, when Jordan was at LeBron's career juncture, he was still flipping out after big shots. (The Shot in 89 comes to mind.) It wasn't until he reached the "I'm Michael Effing Jordan and I Know I'm Making This" in the early 1990s that he stopped celebrating and started just being a badass. Jordan's the shot also won the series. It was also his first playoff series win. Lebron has been to the finals before. So MJ went crazy over a 1st round series win? Bush. But MJ's celebration(s) were like fist pumps and just him being pumped up. LeBron's was all wild and "oh my god.. I made that shot?!?!? Holy [expletive]....It went in?" Jordan was never surprised at how awesome he was.
