  1. He decided to turn white so the Wrigley fans would love him again.
  2. Decent, yes. Pretty good, debatable. He had a 4.42 ERA, 1.505 WHIP, 108 Ks and 77 BBs in 183.1 IP. thats pretty terrible
  3. based on what? the reds offense has been crap the last 2 seasons, and that's with a ballpark helping them The Reds have a lot of young talent, I'm afraid of them over the next couple years. That's been the general sentiment for a couple years now, no? woooosh

  5. lol @ adam jones it's pathetic how much of a joke award this has become.
  6. That's not the debate though. The debate is he better choice than say 140 or so games of Sam Fuld. Did you not see this post from Rob?
  7. Like offense? Because Sam Fuld is awful at that. The guy can't even OPS a 800 OPS in the freaking PCL as a 28 year old. Defense is important but not that important. Especially for a team desperate for offense in RF. you're desperate for production in RF, period. and yes, when your defense is as bad as Dye's is, it's very important. and you talk about wanting hitting there? well dye has only hit in 1 of the last 3 seasons and will be 36 next season. last season he was 10th out of the 11 qualifying AL RF in OPS (.793). his UZR rankings among all MLB RF over the past 4 seasons 18th of 19 11th of 13 17th of 19 17th of 17 so he's been terrible on both sides of the ball in 2 of his last 3 seasons, and is going to be 36. if fuld doesn't hit, at least it will be the only thing he sucks at. if fuld got on base like he did in his minor league career and did with the cubs last season, the difference would be even bigger.
  8. i guess fuld will have to settle for being better than dye at the things that actually matter then and like i said, he doesn't need to outhit dye to be more valuable. even when dye does hit (which is like half the time), he gives it back defensively. he's a dh
  9. jermaine dye is like the opposite of consistent and no one with half a brain would say Sam Fuld is more valuable than Jermaine Dye. If Dye plays like he did last season, then Fuld wouldn't have to do much of anything with the bat to be more valuable overall than Dye. Sorry that you put too much stock in a name.
  10. jermaine dye is like the opposite of consistent
  11. Fuld has no business being a 4th outfielder for a big market major league team. He's a bad version of Scott Posednik. so scott podsednik then
  12. just saw the first of the 2 shorthanded goals. how does that happen? he just skated right by him.
  13. Luckily the entire central has looked pretty bad thus far. which means we're losing a golden opportunity to build up a lead
  14. a fuckin slapshot? this team is garbage right now
  15. man, campbell should have buried that
  16. Probably just makeup
  17. It's at the point where I can't be excited about this team until they get a real goalie. No chance in hell that they win a cup without getting one.
  18. I didnt think this deserved its own thread, so I figured Id hijack this one for a moment. While I dont knowmuch about Thames defense, he is the offensive equivelent of Cameron, so why not get him for cheaper instead? If we must get as player we dont really want, may as well be the cheapest one. thames is not the offensive equivalent to cameron at all also, thames doesn't play center (meaning we wouldn't get the advantage of moving kosuke back to right) and is a really bad defender in the outfield positions he does play so to summarize.... mike cameron is good, thames sucks, and they are nothing alike at all.
  19. holliday from 06-08: .329/.400/.579 holliday in 09: .313/.394/.515 that's a pretty big discrepancy. he was always good and i dont think anybody ever argued that. he just wasn't quite as good as his numbers suggestes while he played in colorado. and using greene is kind of pointless when you consider he just flat out turned to crap the last 2 seasons. when he was in san diego. he had a 102 OPS+ from 02-06. if he had played in a normal park when he was actually good, his numbers would have looked really nice. those are 2 players who played in very extreme ballparks though. i don't really see the point of using them with hermida. land shark stadium is kind of right in the middle in terms of park factors. actually, it has land shark as being a hitter's park in 2 of the last 3 seasons... including 4th overall last season.
  20. i almost forgot that gomez was like the centerpiece in the santana trade. ouch
  21. i think i'd rather take a shot at pie. at least he has a chance of learning how to hit. it seems like even if gomez does reach his offensive ceiling, it's only going to be juan pierre.
  22. i love gomez's career OPS+ of 73 and OBP of .292 also, for a guy as fast as him, he doesn't steal bases at a very good rate
  23. Anyone who makes a big deal about anyone getting caught with weed deserves scorn, regardless of the race of the person that got caught. If you are making a big deal about the weed alone, I agree, but if getting caught puts that person's availability in peril somehow whether it be by league suspension or jail, or especially if the weed was being used before or during driving, then there's absolutely nothing wrong with laying on the criticism. my point was that the initial poster's attitude was "oh, that wacky Lincecum and his pot", where there are plenty of other players who would not be let off so easily in the same situation cowherd said something similar to that. when lincecum gets caught, it's kind of funny, but when an nba player gets caught, the nba has a weed problem. might have something to do with the fact that nba players get caught with weed all the time and the majority of nba players actually smoke it.
