    Man, as this offseason unfolds, am I the only one getting the feeling that this is going to be a disappointing season?

    http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/1059/bradley.png ouch part of me does feel bad for him, though. when he first signed he seemed so genuinely excited about the opportunity to play here. whether or not he brought most of it on himself, it still must feel pretty terrible to almost everybody wanting you gone.

    wait, what? you mean keep bradley, or go with an in house option for rf? because that sounds terrible. I'd keep Bradley. A week ago I completely agreed with that plan, but that ship has sailed. He absolutely has to be moved now. No he does not. Having him being a Cub next year isn't going to hurt anything. If things go well for the Cubs and Bradley, his attitude will be fine. If things don't go well for the Cubs his attitude won't be fine, but that won't matter because the Cubs are already not doing well. After the quotes from him saying he deosn't want to be here, the quotes from his teammates basically informing us that they don't like him, and now the suspension, I don't see how you can possibly think keeping him around is a good idea. At this point I think Milton won't stop until he's out. I honestly can't see Milton playing another game with the Cubs. i just don't see him allowing that to happen. He's going to whine and make things uglier and uglier until he gets what he wants. Actually, I think this has been his plan for a while now. It's not a surprise that as the season got closer and closer to ending, he got more and more vocal. Trying to keep him around for another season just sounds like another trainwreck waiting to happen. They have to move on at this point.

    So you're content going into next season with Milton as the RF? You think this situation will get better by then, and not worse? Come on.... it's time to move on. Milton is basically begging to leave, and you still want him to stay? This situation is not salvageable. I don't know how you can think that it is.

    the park certainly helped, but he was still really good. he's shown he can get hot and putu p big numbers. the problem is, most years he doesn't get that hot. also, iirc milton had a ridiculous babip last season

    bobby abreu maybe? his fielding blows but he's been easily worth the $5M the angels are paying him. it seemed like the market settled and he was the last one standing; there may be another situation where everyone is all set and the cubs end up with bobby abreu or reggie sanders type. as for trades, maybe cody ross? he's due for an arbitration raise, similar to josh willingham last year, and the marlins didn't get all that much for willingham because they needed to dump salary. ross isn't great but he'd be a plus fielder in right and could probably be had without giving up a ton. what about luke scott? he could come cheap and he has a .902 OPS against RHP the last 3 seasons. Maybe a platoon with Johnson? Doesn't sound exciting, but it should get pretty solid production

    That's not something the emotional people are concerned about. They hated Bradley, and they'll cross the bridge of who plays RF later. I've yet to see one reasonable suggestion from them about how to fix the situation. Honest question- Is it reasonable to expect Milton to play right field again next season and this whole situation to resolve itself? I don't see how that happens. The fans don't like him, the players don't like him, the media (whether we like ir or not) is only going to get harder on him. This situation will only get worse. The real solution to this? Go back 9 months and consider that it might not be smart to give a guy like this a big 3 year deal.

    Good thing Bradley produced THIS YEAR for us. Almost exactly like a league-average RF, yup. Though I bet you'll either gloss over this post or refer to some absurdly bad statistic like RBI and pretend it proves a point. A league average RF who was paid $10 million and generally acted like an ass to everybody associated with the organization. Yes, we must keep and protect this guy. [-( [-( [-( I'd prefer to go with 2 outfielders the rest of the season, as a memorial to the Milton Era. His [expletive] was truly transcendent. Pretty awesome that the highlight of watching Milton play this season was seeing him high five that fan on opening day

    Good thing Bradley produced THIS YEAR for us. this year is over. I'm concerned about next year. I don't particularly want Micah Hoffpauir or Mark DeRosa in RF next year don't respond to him, he's awful. rob is right... you can hate bradley all you want, but how are the cubs going to get any better by trading him for basically nothing and having to eat his entire contract? there are plenty of "see you guys are wrong, he's a complete a-hole!!!" but no actual suggestions on how to resolve the situation without the cubs being lousy next year. I agree that trading him is going to make us worse, but can this situation realistically be resolved with Bradley staying in Chicago? Bradley has seemingly has his mind made up for a while now that he wants out of Chicago and is going to say or do whatever it takes to make that happen. He has kind of forced the situation. Man, our right field situation is going to suck next year

    So I guess we can't use the "his teammates have always loved him" line anymore. What a disaster. Could this signing have possible gone ANY worse? The funniest part? He's stayed relatively healthy this season.

    I don't know which is worse. The people who dislike Bradley for the wrong reasons, or the people who are determined to give him a free pass and blame everything on the media and fans. Did the media have a lot to do with this? Of course. Are they most to blame? No, not even close. Milton Bradley is a professional athlete who CHOSE to sign in Chicago. He's getting paid to not only play baseball, but to play it in this city... knowing full well the scrutiny he'd be under the second he signed here.

    Seriously? This doesn't really have anything to do with him being a "scapegoat". Stop trying to defend him when he's clearly been out of line. He's acting like a a piece of garbage and he's getting punished for it. At this point I don't think people are even blaming Milton for the disappointing season the team has had. They're giving him crap because of how he's acting.
