  2. jason bartlett
  3. time to mute the tv
  4. are you sure
  5. i think the only other time i saw it was when urlacher did it.
  6. that was pretty badass
  7. It's also just not that big of a deal. Losing 2 very good hitting coaches in one year for no reason is a pretty big deal.
  8. highly skewed due to your arbitrary start and end points And his first six starts stats that NPC posted are highly skewed by Smoltz's ridiculously good first two starts. My point was that some people were freaking out that Smoltz had two great starts right after going to the Cardinals and started spouting all of that pixie dust BS but since then he's been average at best. His two starts against the Brewers (4 ER in 6 IP and 3 ER in 5 IP) were below average, though his WHIP and K's were solid. He had solid starts against the Cubs and Houston before getting lit up by Cincinnati. So in his last five starts, two were good, two were below average and one was bad. That's probably slightly below average overall. His ERA in those starts is a run worse than the NL starters average but the WHIP is right at the average. why are you using era and writing off whip and k/bb? he has been good in 5 of his 7 starts

  10. so we lost 2 good hitting coaches in one season. this organization is heading in a verrrry bad direction.
  11. The point is that Lou is worried about meaningless things like RBIs while Epstein knows how to look at the stats that actually matter.
  12. Huet was fantastic in the first period and just okay the rest of the way. He got roasted on both shootout attempts though. Overall he was pretty good.
  13. that crowd was pretty horrible, btw.
  14. well that was terrible
  15. banned. what happened?
  16. what happened to cyno?
  17. You'd think if Wells was that bad they'd already have the book on him. He's pitched almost the whole season in the majors and had pretty consistent success. 1.48 WHIP since the ASB
  18. he's also 36, declining, and has a huge contract. the enormous drop in k's this season is pretty telling also. as for the "stays healthy, eats a lot of innings and gets a lot of ground balls", well, you don't pay 15 million a year for that for a guy under contract until age 39. you could say those same things about crappy pitchers anyways, like jason marquis. either way, i don't see how you can possible make the argument that he's "really good" when you consider his age and the season he's having. he'd have to bounce back in a huge way next season for that, and at age 36 he's much more likely to continue this decline than turn it around.
  19. Oh god no. Lowe sucks and has an awful contract Derek Lowe is very good. i don't see how you think that. he's been terrible this season. 4.55 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, 217 hits in 184 innings, etc. his k's have also plummeted since he went to atlanta. he has been awful this year and his numbers away from dodger stadium werent that good over his last 3 seasons in la (WHIPs of 1.38, 1.31, and 1.34 away from dodger stadium from 06-08) oh, and he's also 36 years old. how is he really good?
  20. Oh god no. Lowe sucks and has an awful contract
  21. No, they aren't. Bradley- Career 116 OPS+ Rowand- Career 102 OPS+ It's really not even close.
  22. well let's see if the bears d can finally sack up on a final drive and not cave
  23. how can you be upset about that play? it wasnt as bad as i thought initially. still though he jumped way too early for some reason
