it's funny how brewers fans have completely turned on burnes and are happy he'll probably be traded this offseason. they'll miss him when he's gone.

you keep saying that, as if 24 year old 1Bs with juan soto's track record just come onto the market regularly. they don't.. saying "nobody has paid a player like that" is irrelevant, because there are almost never players like him hitting the market at that age. and saying "nobody will pay that for a 1b" over and over doesn't mean that's true. you're speculating. it all comes down to the fact that you are seemingly okay with soto as a terrible corner OF for 400 million, but not as a 1b, which just doesn't make sense.

people keep telling you that his defense in corner OF is so bad that moving to 1b won't hurt his value that much, you just don't want to hear it.

mookie was 27 when he signed his extension. it was also 3 years ago.

a corner OF moving to 1b is not that weird at all, i don't know why you guys are making a big deal out of that. he's awful in the outfield, the move will happen eventually like others said, he won't move before getting signed. but after he's signed? why not?

we weren't arguing about what will happen, we were arguing about what they should do. also, that's a prediction, not a guarantee. and i'm pretty sure he moves off corner OF before 6 years from now. he is a generational bat that plays anywhere. passing on him because he might need to play 1b instead of corner OF is absurd.

he's 24 with a career .400 wOBA and more walks than stikeouts (for his career!). i'd do that so fast

i would pay close to that. you're overestimating how much value a bad corner OF loses by switching to 1b

why move happ to DH instead of soto? happ is the better defender, you will lose even more value that way

they outscored the opposition by 100 runs (and are bringing the majority of the good parts back), have money to spend, and have a top farm system. I understand being pessimistic about the team actually going for it, but I don't agree with the idea that they aren't building towards anything. I also don't think they have as many holes to fill as you suggest. I don't think they are many peices off from a 90 win team. we would have won that many this year if not for a flawed bullpen (worsened by late injuries), not playing our best team early in the season, and absurdly bad luck.
