  1. how do you know? he's still throwing 96 and even if he is done, i still want him back
  2. hahah i love postseason jumbo bolland is this series' byfuglien, apparently. i love it.
  3. i hope we sign him for cheap next season, even if he is terrible all season this year
  4. guys, this isn't really a big deal. teams do this a lot. madden said he's done this his whole career
  5. he threw his glove into the crowd last night after blowing a save against the royals
  6. I understand the salary relief issue, but I can't see Ricketts spending all that money on the Cubs and then go into a rebuilding mode for 3-4 years, especially with the Black Hawks going for the Stanley Cup, the Bulls rumored to be after LeBron, and the new offensive-minded Martz coaching the Bears. I don't know for sure that I'd do either of those moves (I'd have to look more closely at Quentin), but trading Z for salary relief doesn't mean we're going into a 3-4 year rebuilding mode. Actually, getting relief from Z, Lee and Lilly's salaries might actually help us contend within the next 2 years since we'd be able to go after some high-salary players (somebody like Fielder). So we're going to dump salary just to pour it back into some other long term/high price FA? Players like Fielder and Cliff Lee are going to cost you $30 million or more per year for 4-5 years, so then you're locked into old, expensive players that will have reduced production. Plus Fielder has the type of body that won't age well. you think cliff lee and prince fielder are going to get 30 million a year?
  7. haha i had to find it what a strange poster. what's even funnier is that 2 months before that, he said he hoped they waited another year before calling him up
  8. seriously, do you even follow the cubs? the cubs rotation is top 10 in the MLB in pretty much every stat you can look at. the rotation is very good. and lol @ building around tyler colvin
  9. i'd rather see howry get lit up than mess with cashner or jackson, to be honest.
  10. another dominant start from strasburg 6.1 IP 3 H 2 BB 9 K 0 ER
  11. saw this in a sharks game thread
  12. This obviously doesn't account for his base stealing, but his BABIP is 34 points lower than it's ever been in a single season before. He had a .351 BABIP during his first four years and it's .295 this year. Only a 2% drop in his LD% this year from his career according to B-R but FanGraphs shows it as down nearly 6% from his career average. which is more reliable? fangraphs has his LD% as his 13.2, which is pretty bad and way lower than anything he's put up. it also has his GB% all the way to 57.4. his previous season high was 45.8 in 2008 and is at 42.9 for his career. his k percentage is also down though. looks like he's putting the ball in play a lot but is hitting it pretty weakly as a result of that, which would help explain the poor babip.
  13. Been doing that for a couple of years now... Oh, you mean Prior Classy. You can't hate me that much if you refuse to ignore me. dont think he was talking about you
  14. really can't understate what niemi did for the team in the first period. the sharks came out on fire with legitmate scoring chances through most of the 1st, but niemi stood on his head. this allowed the hawks to get the soft goal and completely turn the game. the sharks could have easily had a 2-0 lea dor something like that in the first 10 minutes, which obviously would have completely changed the way the game unfolded. niemi did this a couple times in the vancouver series too.
  15. and he looks like jesse pinkman
  16. See I don't mind losing game 5, so we can clinch the series at Wrigley Field in front of our fans. exactly. i'm ashamed to admit that i didn't care if they lost game 5 before it started. whoops.
  17. IDK what you are talking about, but Melrose has been on the Hawks bandwagon since Toews/Kane era began. In fact the Hawks are his favorite to win the Stanley Cup. Not to mention he's in love with the Hawks jersey. yeah, he loves the hawks. He said Kaner isn't as good as either of the Sedin twins well, he's definitely not. in the regular season, at least.
  18. i don't think we should even be discussing where the series might end. way too early for that.
  19. IDK what you are talking about, but Melrose has been on the Hawks bandwagon since Toews/Kane era began. In fact the Hawks are his favorite to win the Stanley Cup. Not to mention he's in love with the Hawks jersey. Yeah I swear in every analysis of the Blackhawks he throws in "and they have the best jersey in sports." i've only heard him say it about the hawks Fixed your post was actually fine, i just misread it i'm jacked up
  20. i'm not in chicago, but i'd think he has to be seriously heating up. if they make it to the finals, the bandwagon will be out in full force. im near tampa and during the lightning's 2004 run, the bandwagon didn't REALLY heat up until the finals. then of course there were thousands of bandwagoners watching game 7 outside of the stadium and pretending that they actually cared

  23. really? during the season he was raving about the hawks every time he talked about them. what did he say?
  24. for the first time since the 97-98 bulls, i actually feel like my team is going to win a championship. with the bears in 07 and cubs in 03 i thought they had as good a chance as anybody, but i didn't actually think "man, id really be surprised if they didn't win the title".
  25. is it too late to delete every post i made to kyle during the regular season
