  1. the lottery is about to start. could be big in the lebron derby. the nets would have a pretty attractive roster if they get one of the top 2 picks.
  2. I think you should learn a new word other than ignorant. Getting too much of the blame is part of the job. Piniella knows that and expects that and isn't bothered by it. Perhaps he should only be blamed for what he can directly control which is making out the lineup card, pitching changes and substitutions. Seems to me Piniella has done pretty poorly in all 3 of those facets. Maybe I'm missing something. There seems to be a notion that Lou is not using Marshall properly. I think you guys are taking one instance yesterday where Lou used Grabow instead of Marshall and blowing it out of proportion. Marshall has pitched in 21 out of 39 games so far this year. I would have preferred to see Marshall in Grabow's spot yesterday and in the long run it probably would have helped Marshall. Maybe he would have only had to pitch one inning instead of two. However, you can't act like it's crazy for Lou to want to rest a reliever that's been used in more than half of the games so far this year. umm, you know that marshall ended up pitching 2 innings in that game, right?
  3. here's the play http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=8077975&c_id=fla
  4. by the way, this isn't new for hanley. apparently he's on his way to mannyland. uggla called him out hard in the clubhouse last year too and apparently he has a habit of doing this type of stuff. and i don't see how anybody can watch the video of the play and side with hanley. i'm NOT the type of fan that complains about hustle often, but that was ridiculous. i don't see how hanley can be mad about being pulled for the game. that was embarrassing. oh, and his performance on the field hasn't been as good this season as it's been in the past either. he has like an .850 ops and has pretty mush stopped trying to steal bases
  5. I'm going to guess that in an amazing feat of strength, Hanley could have lept 100 feet and scooped the ball and threw it home in one instantaneous motion and prevented anyone from advancing 1 base, let alone score. Was it laziness or was it a play he gave up on thinking that there was basically no way to stop 2 guys from scoring after you just kicked a ball all the way to the outfield corner? He prevented Abreu from scoring, which is probably the logical outcome I would have guessed might happen if you posed the question "what happens if.....". did you watch the play? it was the most blatant lack of effort i've ever seen from a baseball player. i don't care how hard the foul ball hit his foot. he was clearly dogging it, which isn't new for hanley.
  6. line drive to the shoulder already?
  7. 18 million dollar long reliever? which for lou means mop up duty
  8. i kind of feel like that about when i was at game 5 of the NLCS when the cubs went up 3-1 in the series. the stadium was all cubs fans and at the time, we thought we had basically just won the pennant and were going to the world series. i'll never forget what the place was like after the game. the tunnels were completely swarming with cubs fans just yelling and high fiving everyone that walked past. people were doing the hop/high five thing that sosa/alou/lofton did in the outfield after wins too. it was completely insane. craziest sports moment of my life, even though it ended up being meaningless. This is so angsty and stupid and just flat-out wrong. I swear, some Cubs fans don't deserve a WS. this doesn't even really make sense. are you telling me how i feel about that season? or are you saying that the horrible collapse after game 4 didn't take away any of the impact that the previous games had?
  9. i turned the cubs on for like 15 minutes tonight, which was the first time ive actually watched them in a couple weeks i think. it took about 2 minutes of watching to see lou put marmol in with the bases loaded, then another 10 minutes to see loud bunt with one of our lone hot hitters to put a guy in RISP for our 2 black holes in the lineup. looooouuuuuuu
  10. not really anything new here. i think we all knew that hendry would never fire lou. hendry needs to be the one to fall first.
  11. please don't trade ANY prospects to attempt to fix this train wreck of a team.
  12. whatever. i want this season to get as ugly as possible
  13. i kind of feel like that about when i was at game 5 of the NLCS when the cubs went up 3-1 in the series. the stadium was all cubs fans and at the time, we thought we had basically just won the pennant and were going to the world series. i'll never forget what the place was like after the game. the tunnels were completely swarming with cubs fans just yelling and high fiving everyone that walked past. people were doing the hop/high five thing that sosa/alou/lofton did in the outfield after wins too. it was completely insane. craziest sports moment of my life, even though it ended up being meaningless.
  14. it was sweet dee
  15. that basically weakens your argument. just sayin... i agree he's pretty overrated though
  16. niemi has a .918 save percentage in the playoffs
  17. i've always thought he looks exactly like this guy
  18. i just want to know why he's so shiny
  19. if all the stuff about WWW trying to sell LBJ/JC as a package deal is true, then that's an enormous advantage we have over the knicks. obviously.
  20. i'd definitely take the stanley cup, but i had to think about it for a second
  21. simmons has been pretty hard on lebron these last few days.
  22. hmm hmm, i guess thats what it could be. i was wondering wtf that was. the only thing i could think of was that it was supposed to be a swimming motion since they were moving onto to face the sharks, but i figured that was too lame/cheesy.
  23. i liked this part of the game thread description on the sharks sbnation board. it seriously is beyond idiotic.
  24. I'll add Silva to that sentiment too. If someone had told me all 3 of those guys would be producing at a high level, I would have thought the Cubs would be having a hell of a hot start. Baseball is a strange game indeed. Yeah it's pretty annoying. Three of our starters have been pretty good and most of the starters on offense are doing pretty good. Why the hell aren't we winning? the cubs have been outscored by 14 runs
  25. - gold medal - named best forward at the olympics - stanley cup - conn smythe that would be a pretty spectacular year for 22 year old jonathan toews, and it cold VERY easily happen.
