  1. seabrook didn't say a word the whole time
  2. lol kane still has the mullet
  3. i still haven't found this out. how much is carey price likely to make next season? i want him
  4. Why do you insist on being a dick? I was just providing evidence that I was not the only one who thought this way. Neyer is pretty respected baseball writer not some smuck on a message board who insists on acting 12 whenever he can. You mean "schmuck." And why do you insist on trumping up such an inane, ridiculous argument with outdated editorials from the likes of Neyer? These are mysteries the world will never solve. The likes of Neyer over anonymous people on the internet? I think I'll take Neyer. I'm not trumping anything. I was just providing a piece of information for schmucks like you, who insist on acting like a teenager for chuckles from your buds. except neyer didn't agree with you. he said there was a 50/50 chance that he is going to be released BY THE TIME HIS CONTRACT ENDS. he said nothing about releasing him now.
  5. he needs to be the next player locked up long term. him and keith need to stay together. they shouldn't trade him next offseason either. do what you must to keep that guy.
  6. ozzie guillen seems like a pretty insecure person
  7. dealing seabrook would be a horrible, horrible hit to next years team. out of the question.
  8. Hjalmarsson seabrook i can't remember seabrook making a mistake all postseason, and he was one of our only guys who was laying people out on a consistent basis. hjalmarsson was good, but he's DQd for his 2 atrocious goal-costing plays in game 4 but really, all 3 guys were awesome. keith still makes way too many horrible turnovers, but watching that guy skate is pretty amazing
  9. i don't think keith was even our best d-man in the playoffs
  10. i'm really getting sick of people saying duncan keith deserved the conn smythe over toews
  11. how much is carey price likely to get next season? i know nothing about hockey contracts. you figure he's probably avilable with what halak did in the postseason, and with the pieces we're going to get back for the guys we deal, we could afford to give up some guys for him.
  12. sounds like he's gone. or just a weak negotiating tactic
  13. There's a massive difference in the two players' offense. Are you saying Hill is better at these other things a catcher is supposed to do to the tune of a .300 difference in OPS? And quite frankly, Soto's defense isn't that much worse than Hill's. I'm saying I don't know, and I don't think anyone else does either. really? this sounds like lou's argument, which is just ridiculous. "our offense sucks anyways, so we might as well go with defense". if your offense sucks, the last thing you'd want to do is get rid of one of the only guys who actually does hit. if the rest of your offense blows, that makes soto's bat even more valuable, not less.
  14. We overrate Soto a lot, but yet you think Colvin should play more? Colvin is competing against 4 other people for 3 spots in the OF, all of whom have had a better career than Colvin has. Soriano and Byrd for the most part have been damn good this year, and Fuku started out really well, and still is the best option to leadoff we have on this team. What has Koyie Hill done in his career to justify playing more than Soto? Soto is younger, and has had a much better career offensively than Hill. Also, no matter what Lou or the other idiots in the media would like you to believe, the defensive difference between the 2 isn't much. The only person being overrated on this team is Tyler Colvin If only offense was the only thing that mattered as a catcher. so you think the difference in defense between the 2 makes up for the difference of OVER 300 POINTS in ops? that must be some pretty spectacular defense serious, we're talking about a .554 OPS to an .861 OPS. there is really no argument whatsoever to be had about who is the better player.
  15. if soto was qualified (and the only reasons he isn't are the walks and Lou Piniella), he'd have the second best OPS from a catcher in all of baseball, and only .01 behind Victor Martinez for number 1 (soto is at .860, martinez is at .861) when you take into account that OPS doesn't way OBP as heavily as it should, soto has basically been the best hitting catcher in baseball this year. but yeah let's bench an elite hitting catcher at age 27 so we can play a terrible player. that's reasonable.
  16. even though i hate the white sox, this is pretty badass http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/cubs-sox-blackhawks.jpg not sure i like dempster ruining the symmetry though
  17. Wow, while not scoring many goals I thought Hossa was fantastic throughout the whole of the playoffs. It will be glossed over and forgotten because they won, but the criticism of Hossa during these playoffs was preposterous. Simply an easy target because he wasn't scoring goals and the whole "curse" thing. But I assure you, anyone who was criticizing his play doesn't know the first damn thing about hockey. He was phenomenal. i was reading a detroit forum (i know, i know) and i saw one poster call hossa an "along-for-the-ride fraud", and another said "it's obvious by watching him that he is trying to do it all himself. he is the definition of a selfish player" it's really amazing that so many people have this bizarre hatred towards a fantastic player who just wants to win. i guess it all stems from his one year deal with detroit, which is ridiculous. when guys take the biggest offer, they're "typical athletes who are just in it for the money", but when a guy risks a ton of money because of an intense desire to win, he's a mercenary. very stupid, especially considering i've seen these same people call him "ho$$a" because of his big contract with the hawks. they needs to make up their minds on what they hate him for. really, the whole one year deal thing made me like him more. it just showed that he's all about winning above anything else, and that's the guy i want on my team. also, his celebration after the OT winner against nashville was one of my favorite celebrations ever (even though emrick effed up the call by calling him kane)
  18. i also forgot how annoying the nashville announcers were.
  19. hossa became my favorite player at some point during this season. he is amazing i decided to re-watch the 10 minute highlight things from NHL.com for each game, starting with game 1 of the playoffs. i had forgotten how disastrous that first game was. the bouncing puck that went past niemi to tie it in the first, and then the ridiculous turnover by brouwer to give them the game winner. it seems like it wasnt even this season when that stuff happened
  20. yeah apparently i missed a few posts
  21. well if the celtics win, at least in wont be at home
  22. okay reading over the last 2 pages, maybe sulley was trolling you
  23. why are we even talking hockey on a cubs message board then?
  24. he's staying in the game? this is unbelievable
