  1. what a bunch of stiffs.
  2. im looking forward to our 7 seed
  3. 7 million bucks for a big market team is never "quite risky"
  4. this is basically the best overall offsason the cubs have ever had so far
  5. as a 4th line guy eager was pretty decent with the hawks
  6. when you first said butterfly effect i thought you were talking about kyle korver.
  7. well i understand why they were doing it and it wasn't a bad thing to look for in general, but it was like all their moves were based on that and nothing else. "well these guys are pretty mediocre, but they're TOUGH". there's a reason all those though guys (other than montador) signed 1 year deals despite bringing toughness. they aren't really good. i don't think it's the team being soft, i think it's more of a lack of effort and motivation. they still don't seen engaged. i know that's comething that's often a cliche for struggling teams, but this has been going on for a year and a half now. duncan keith is like the poster boy for it. i mean, what was the difference between our cup team and the 2 teams we've had since then? ladd, versteeg, sopel, madden weren't tough guys. you could put byfuglien, eager, and burish in that category, but those guy can play. we had actual depth up and down every line on both sides of the puck. we lost all that and now we tried to mimic it by signing a bunch of tough guys to one-years deals and calling it "depth".
  8. sarcasm like spongeworthy was saying, the dude literally makes NO attempt to back guys down anymore. it's brutal. i always want to see him get the ball and actually make a move, but then he tries it and it's like "oh yea, don't do that. nevermind." it's like he's completely lost all his basketball skills. it looks like more than just aging.
  9. why should they be sitting at the top of the west though? they weren't really close to the top last year, and they didn't improve in the offseason. i made a post talking about this in the offseason when everybody in the media was talking about how the hawks were poised to be elite again this season because off all the "toughness" and "fire" that they got, when in reality we lost campbell and then added a bunch of crappy tough guys and called it "depth". the only talent/skill guy they got was andrew brunette, but it seems like he's just too slow to keep up. the campbell trade was still good, but it's like they didn't even make an attempt to make up for it. it's hard to say what they should have done differently because the free agent pool was weak this past offseason and guys were getting overpaid, but i felt at the time (and now) like they needed to do something else if they were going to move campbell. when campbell went out with the broken collarbone on the ovechkin hit towards the end of the cup season our defense went to [expletive] also. they almost lost to nashville and it wasn't until he came back mid-playoffs that they starting looking like they could actually win the cup. the organization is still in great shape long-term, but it's annoying that it looks like we're going to waste another year of young toews-kane on their cap friendly contracts.
  10. but watching him work in the post is just a joy
  11. i think the main thing is that the top guys (keith, seabrook, hjalmarsson) aren't what they used to be. especially duncan. dont know what happened to that guy.
  12. wow these guys fuckin suck the defense and goaltending is pathetic. it was being masked early in the year when they were scoring a crazy amount of goals, but now it's showing. i don't know if this team can be fixed with deadline moves. even if we add D, it's going to be kind of moot with crawford and emery in there.
  13. what a horrible person
  14. yea i barely pay attention to them these days. they've done a good job of making me lost interest in them. last i checked it was 2-0 now i see theyre losing 3-2. i dont even care anymore. just makes me laugh.
  15. lol @ that melo shot
  16. why the hell i dont even
  17. thats a stupid foul
  18. brewer isnt hurt he's just been atrocious lately
  19. im not too worried about the defense, but jr smith would do this offense wonders
  20. knicks are shooting 56%
  21. i can handle losing to the heat but not the knicks. don't blow this.
  22. boozer is killing us.
  23. the times i've watched him he tries way too hard to be funny and won't shut up. also his basketball opinions are horrible. he thinks bynum is better than dwight.
  24. shaq is loathsome on tnt
