    no way theo trades for fringe prospects just to get salary relief. if it's dempster/soriano and basically all of alfonso's salary paid, we better be getting back at least webster

    dudes, we're still getting delgado. cubs are leaking all the stuff about LA offering them garbage so they can say "see ryan, we tried hard but these guys are unreasonable. we even tried getting alfonso involved". then dempster will agree to go to atl in the final hours. notice how there have been no rumors whatsoever about the braves the last few days? weren't they going hard for a pitcher? then they don't even try for greinke (when atl was apparently one of zack's preferred teams), when the angels got him for a mediocre package? we got this

    If we don't make some big trades now, I really don't see how we can without some big free agent signings or trade prospects for big league players I really don't see how we can. The only help that we have coming from our farm in the next year or two is Vitters, Jackson, and Lake, as well as some relievers, none of whom are sure things by any means. Actually contend? Next season, meaning 2013. That is with or without Garza. Hopefully it is without. Get on board everyone, this vehicle is beginning to make its ascent. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: why do you post on here?

    tbh, it doesn't seem like bruce miles has much inside info anymore now that the hendry regime is gone.

    even though it's been quiet, I really think Soriano is gone. If they're really not going to be giving out any big contracts this offseason, this could be a really good chance to eat most of the money and get an asset back for soriano while he's actually playing well. if carlos lee was good enough to get gould, i find it hard to believe that there aren't teams willing to give up a legit prospect and 2-4 million for a 2.8+ war outfielder.

    i could see a blockbuster deal going down with dempster and garza and possible soto/soriano going to one team. wouldn't be surprised to see them pull something out of their asses with guys like maholm/camp/johnson either.

    obviously the rays wouldn't do that, but soriano isn't really one of the worst contracts in baseball anymore.

    it may be irrational, but i have this overwhelming confidence that theo and jed are going to just kill it over the next few days. i think they've got all kinds of [expletive] going on with all kinds of players/teams.
