  1. joe is taking this popovich thing really seriously
  2. Maybe I'm forgetting someone but we've probably already had the biggest position player injury/loss of any team in the league with Schwarber. aj pollock sandoval 8-)
  3. holy crap, i missed that fowler bat flip. totally worth the ejection.
  4. i was recently shocked when i found out he's 36. i thought he was like 31.
  5. the guy in the third row directly behind the left handed batters box looks exactly like jared fogle
  6. i saw him in a quiet sports bar after a rays game several years ago, and he was air drumming at the bar by himself. it was awesome.
  7. maddon is in popovich mode. there's a little bit of hype around this series, so he's just trolling everyone. then we'll probably win anyways.
  8. i wish there was a fourth game so we could match that 2008 series against the brewers
  9. they're both too close, just call one safe and one out and let's fuckin go
  10. they made it essentially impossible to enter into a contract like that going forward and used this rule to specifically punish the 6 or 7 contracts that were already signed with cap circumvention in mind. http://www.secondcityhockey.com/2016/3/9/11185632/marian-hossa-nhl-salary-cap-recapture-penalty-blackhawks-retirement-ltir This has a good look at the penalty the Hawks would get if he retired early. If he doesn't retire, he has a cap hit of 5.275m until 2020-2021. If he retires after next year or any of the remaining years of his contract, the Hawks will have a 4.275m cap hit each year for the remainder of the contract he signed. So basically as long as Hossa is worth $1m a year, it is worth having him. My opinion is that even though he is no longer a dynamic scoring forward, he would still contribute in others ways enough for at least the next 2-3 years. i really hope he plays as long as possible, just because he's been my favorite hawk. no matter what happens with the recapture penalty, the acquisition of hossa was a masterstroke.
