  1. willson and ross picking guys off first is one of the small pleasures that i will always remember from this cubs era
  2. it's spelled goatse, look it up
  3. i don't wear hats but i want that cubs player weekend hat
  4. he's a 25 year old non-prospect with 78 major league plate appearances, and there are posts about him moving bryant off third, wondering why everyone missed on him, calling him the next star, etc. i'm not saying he sucks or that he doesn't have value to the cubs. hopefully he can be a late bloomer and it's possible that he ends up as a derosa/zobrist type, it's just funny to see everyone losing their horsefeathers over him, when this is the type of place that should know not to get excited over a tiny sample size of plate appearances. It's hard to fake hitting the ball hard and he's doing that better than anyone since he's been up and he's playing solid defense and clearly looks like he has a solid idea and approach at the plate. Yes of course it's ridiculous to think he will ever move Bryant off third but he's shown enough that he's probably one of the better 8 starting options on a given day with where the roster is at now. He's better than Tommy and better than Almora vs RHP and probably Happ vs LHP and at times a better option than Russell depending on the defense you want to run out. did you see this post? baseball is littered with guys who do this and then end up turning back into nothing. i'm just wondering why a lot of people have already made the leap from "this guy is providing lots of value to use right now, and it's really helpful" to "this guy is a significant piece going forward" but really the post was half joking in the first place, which is why i literally used the term doom boner at the start of it. it was an extremely noninflammatory post, so of course it got someone fired up.
  5. http://gif-finder.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Will-Ferrell-Thats-dumb.gif WTF are you going on about??? Bote is already something and big league scouts and teams have already noticed him. Teams wanted to acquire him at the trade deadline and were asking the Cubs about him. he's a 25 year old non-prospect with 78 major league plate appearances, and there are posts about him moving bryant off third, wondering why everyone missed on him, calling him the next star, etc. i'm not saying he sucks or that he doesn't have value to the cubs. hopefully he can be a late bloomer and it's possible that he ends up as a derosa/zobrist type, it's just funny to see everyone losing their horsefeathers over him, when this is the type of place that should know not to get excited over a tiny sample size of plate appearances.
  6. haha shut up duke, you know perfectly well you've been doing it to be a smartass. why the f do i always fall for the bait
  7. this is a fair point, but it's also pretty disingenuous how you've used it like 10 times in the last few weeks. they could have the 6th best record in the league with a bad 3-4 days First yes, we wish they have been better. But he's been able to use that because they've been the best team in the NL for a few weeks now so they're doing something right (or maybe the NL just isn't that good). It's also mathematically impossible to be 6th in the NL in the next 3-4 days. man you guys don't even try to understand things, it's crazy
  8. this is a fair point, but it's also pretty disingenuous how you've used it like 10 times in the last few weeks. they could have the 6th best record in the league with a bad 3-4 days Disingenuous is when you...tell the truth? pretty big whiff on that gif usage. it's disingenuous because it's a way to make them sound better than they are. typically there would be a team in the league on pace for more than 93-94 wins in august. if they were on pace for 99 wins, he'd just say that. i know he's just using it as a meme, though.
  9. it's doom boner night so i might as well point out that bote is likely nothing
  10. Sorry for not going full doom-boner when my favorite team has the best record in their league. this is a fair point, but it's also pretty disingenuous how you've used it like 10 times in the last few weeks. they could have the 6th best record in the league with a bad 3-4 days
  11. things would be so great right now if quintana/darvish/chatwood weren't complete failures
  12. it doesn't really matter, but the yankees are on an extremely painful run right now.
  13. i can't believe i secretly kind of wanted them to trade baez the last 2 offseasons
  14. hahaahahha man this is peak david i mean if getting bent out of shape whenever baseball baseballs and good teams SPLIT a horsefeathering series with a bad team is how you chose to enjoy baseball, go you. seems insane to me, but go nuts. why are you acting like i was trying to ascribe some profound meaning to the series? i'm always the one saying that caring about individual series results are pointless. i said the series sucked because we're in the last 2 months of a close division race and treading water in what figure to be the easiest games was a bummer. i know that they could easily sweep arizona or something to make up for it (and that's how things happen over the course of a full season), but it's pretty obvious to see how people could be annoyed with those particular 4 games. look through the thread. everyone was salty about it. it's okay.
  15. imagine how cool it would be if returned and dominated down the stretch and in the playoffs then realize that it still would only be like 25% as cool as what schwarber did
  16. i don't care about who gets saves, but i'm enjoying strop getting them, just because it probably means a lot to him also those fist pumps
  17. maybe wade hasn't killed enough animals lately
  18. for some reason that didn't look cool at all

  20. prior, hamels and bryant are like russian dolls
