  1. I didn't say it was insurmountable. You implied that it would be no big deal because past teams did it, and I pointed out the problem with that thinking. This is after you moved the goal posts from when you previously said the brewers schedule didnt matter and that they wouldnt pull ahead of the cubs. I get it, I whine in game threads a lot. but right now the organization really isnt in a very good spot going forward, so maybe you should accept that. I understand that we should be thankful for what the Cubs have done in the last 5 years, but the actions of the organization in the last couple years dont warrant your defense. they should be criticized heavily for what they're doing. They did it in April. i didn't imply the cubs couldn't come back from 5-6 games back
  2. Yeah I’m sure those 300 PAs last year are more indicative of his ability than the other 1200 PAs where he was a very good hitter. i meant until it falls back to where it did, or worse. i like willson. this isn't a me bitching about the cubs thing. i'm saying that if he falls back to his .830 ops self, his value is kind of unspectacular, but i get the sense that his value around the league would be more than that. i just think he's more of an .800-850 ops guy with bad overall defense. add in the wear and tear of catching, and i think it's a great opportunity to sell high. also, his biggest flaw (framing) is likely to hurt us more than most other teams, since we have such poor control. i think i actually make a post during the offseason about trading him if he bounced back offensively. it's not reactionary.
  3. trade him before his offense falls off a cliff again. if there's any truth at all to the pitch framing stuff, then hes a bad fit for this staff.
  4. dont worry, theo is already working on new urgency slogans for next march
  5. even you know your heart isnt behind this post this team is a shell of what they used to be. expecting anything based on what they've done in previous years is pointless. they are not those teams, and we all knew it going into the season. they're a slightly above average team. You want this team to fail. I get it. You wanted the same thing last year also. I do believe in this team and think they’re going through a rough stretch. Does that mean they will be fine? Of course not. But yes, I do think they’re a good team. Regardless of what I think about them, you implying a 5-6 game deficit to the Brewers is insurmountable is absurd. 7. holy horsefeathers, the brewers are going to be up 5-6 games by the break with their schedule
  8. this quote pretty much sums up the state of the cubs organization
  9. also don't catchers tend to decline earlier? trade hiiimmmmm
  10. Sign someone like Grandal for 16 mil on a short term contract and win lots of games? trading willson for prospects or major league pitching and then signing grandal makes way too much sense for it to happen
  11. i still think it makes a ton of sense to trade him
  12. Because it's top 10-12 in the league both as starters and relievers and we've got a top-5 offense in the majors? do you think this is a top 10-12 pitching staff the rest of the way? i'm optimistic that they can win 85-90 games if they stay healthy, which is basically where we were before the season, when we all agreed that this team was disappointing.
  13. they don't suck. they're just not very good. basically what we thought all offseason
  14. i just don't see how you can be optimistic about a team with this pitching
  15. I just think the 23-7 or whatever was kind of a fluke in the sense that I dont think the the rotation (the 3 lefties in particular) are going to have another dominant stretch like they did. It's also unlikely that the top 4 hitters maintain a .950-1.000 ops all season, and I dont see any other hitters getting super hot to make up for the inevitable regression of the top 4. Even when we were on pace for like 100 wins, fangraphs still only had us around 90.
  16. brewers win by 1, cubs lose by 1. pretty much the story of the last 2 seasons
  17. the rotation and bullpen are awful.the 86-87 win predictions are looking more and more correct
  18. he's traveling with the team to houston. does that rule out a concussion, or just rule out a mega concussion?
  19. That Darvish wasn't actually getting better? Agreed. Given the circumstances he came through today, he went in to the game knowing he was going 6-7+ and 100+ pitches in horsefeathers conditions. He gave us a chance and we won. The offense won the game. if they didnt bail him out, nobody would care that he "saved the pen"
  20. what a disaster that series was. a concussion for kb could completely derail his season again
  21. that kawhi/giannis sequence was awesome
  22. everything is a pain in the ass to get to in Florida i went to opening day in miami last year. we got to the stadium 2 hours before first pitch, but still ended up missing happ's leadoff home run because it look literally 2+ hours to park. if there's any kind of significant crowd, things just stop working there. if the lightning can thrive in florida, i see no reason why the rays can't with a well placed stadium
  23. I have no idea of your level of sarcasm there but I'm almost sure Almora has only been married the one time Yeah he’s being a dick. With each passing day, the likelihood of his return becomes more remote. it was a joke about almora getting engaged to multiple women in rapid succession after he was drafted
  24. You can't root for Marchand.
