  1. I don't like this at all. I stopped caring about college football a couple years ago, but now college football is hurting my enjoyment of college basketball. The Big East especially is in shambles, and CFB isn't really better off for it, either.
  2. Can you imagine the reaction we could get if you ever made a post worth reading? Please be nice. It's possible to respond to this without a direct attack. Or, you know, ignore it. Tim, you know that some of your posters only make direct attacks instead of posting on the topic. Oh my God, you're such a victim. Stop being a [expletive], and people won't attack you anymore.

I was talking about the guy who came in, obviously having not read the last 6 or so pages, in order to deliver a thinly-veiled potshot at the FO for no earthly reason. I'm sure this time was just an aberration, though.
  4. So, did we stop banning trolls here or what
  5. Oh my goodness, is there anything more meatbally than challenging a player to a fight and then basically calling him a [expletive] on the record? I think you missed the whole story. He was out of baseball a year later. I knew Hillenbrand was a [expletive], but no, I didn't quite know those details. I still stand by what I said, though.

  7. It's always good to be reminded of all the people I hate here.
  8. I...you too, huh? I don't understand how anyone could think the tone of the piece was appreciative. It was rather sarcastic, and to its credit, it did NOT read like something written by Matt "subtle as a sledgehammer" Taibbi.
  9. I realize hoping for your team to lose is a borderline thing. I go back and forth on that myself, but maintaining a patient long term approach is much different than tanking a season. I'm a big fan of investing in a top notch front office, scouting staff, developmental staff and potential impact amateur talent. I like having place holders at positions where young talents are close to joining the majors so they have a chance to play and develop at the major league level when they are deemed ready, and so the team can have a chance to see what they've got. I like trading very good 29 year old talent for younger potential impact prospects in their early twenties when your core stars are just entering or have yet to enter their primes. I think these are sound strategies to build a team that competes annually for a world championship. I think we can agree the Cubs are not tanking a season. But as the Cubs are in the 2nd year of a long term rebuilding plan and it would be unwise to sign players like Greinke and Hamilton at this point, is it wrong to hope that the Cubs lose a lot of games this coming season? I wonder myself. That's why I'm asking... That is a completely faulty premise, so I take issue with everything you've argued under that assumption.
  10. I can hardly believe the wet blanketry happening in this thread. This is a good upside move with little risk if we give him market value for one year.
  11. No kidding. Mays catch being 99 and Ali being 93 instantly discredits that list. A photo of a fish is 60 spots higher than those? Really? WTF is up with that fish
  12. this thraed should be closed schooner rather then latere nice
  13. Criminal. Disgraceful. I'm sure ND will win and Mariners will come in talking trash but it should be a 14 point lead right now. I thought it looked like PI live. After the replay...not so much.
  14. Its the perfect pickup even if it does cost a decent prospect (someone in the Vitters/Watkins/McNutt vein?). Worst case (assuming his back is OK and his performance after his return indicates that) is he doesn't bounce back and you make in a QO next year and get him back on another pillow contract/get draft pick compensation if he signs elsewhere. Best case is he is the top targeted SP at the trade deadline. Trading for Haren is basically going to guarantee that at the very least, you get to add at least a first round-ish prospect down the line. Don't really think of what Haren will do for the Cubs on the field next year (because we aren't going to contend), think about what Haren will net the Cubs when he leaves. And that will be more than just a decent prospect. I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD RELEASE CHOCOLATEMILK IMMEDIATELY
  15. Holy [expletive], is that Doug Flutie doing color for ND? Absolutely brutal, my God
  16. Resign him to a 3 year $21.5mm deal. It's about average So you're going with him being wrong and you wanting to pay more. I do not think you mean that. Kyle has effectivelY driven you insane. That's pretty disturbing. Try reading that again, but pretend it's in green. That attempt at reading comprehension was careless.
  17. WHY DON'T THEY ALL HATE HIM?!
  18. Hahaha, that is really picky
