    It's only a matter of time. If they would have just thought this way all along and not offered membership to any school with a football team, they could have kicked out the football teams, kept the Big East name and MSG for their conference tourney. Instead, they are probably going to have to go it alone without an auto bid to the NCAA tourney for a year or two and try to start a new conference. Bad planning. That being said, could be a very strong hoops league with like teams. Would be nice to get to 10 teams and play a home and home every year. That could be cool: Georgetown, Villanova, St. Johns, Providence, Seton Hall, DePaul, Marquette and then add Xavier, Butler, and St. Louis. All located in major metro areas in the East/Midwest. Cool idea. As a Marquette alum, this is making the best of a bad situation. Keeping the Big East name and MSG are the key assets to protect, but you're off base on the autobid. In order for a conference to have an autobid for basketball, there needs to be seven active Division I members that sponsor men’s and women’s basketball and sponsor a minimum of six men’s sports and six women’s sports. That's not a problem. YES, that officially makes this news excellent! Of course, the BCS money will probably be no more soon, right?

    Wow, that trade isn't fair at all. The Rays traded for prospects that actually make them better immediately, too.

    According to the Trib, the White Sox have agreed to a 3 year deal w/ Keppinger worth 12M TOTAL. That's a damn good deal, if accurate. Wasn't it being reported that he was asking 12 per?

    Then "FIP/XFIP" would be wrong; he's filthy. He has over 400 MLB innings pitched & less than 350 hits... Not by luck, it's by great pitching. Ooooohh, fun!

    Soler. Crazy tools across the board, with demonstrated plate discipline, AND he made a ton of contact in limited PA this year. Way more exciting to me.

    He's actually the worst player in football but the ND bias is so pervasive that he's going to win even if they have to fix the vote. I mean, you can't allow the streak of ND Heisman winners in the last 25 years end. Do you realize how dumb it is to say playing for ND improves his Heisman candidacy? It helps that he's the leader and best player on the best defense on the #1 team in the country though. Jesus. Christ.

    Why even bring up the fact he used to play for the A's? He hasn't pitched for them since the end of a totally different era of baseball. And his injury history has one serious blemish on it: a TJS from 2008-2009, which he recovered from perfectly fine. If the Braves want to get rid of Hudson it's because he's old and expensive, not because he's got any serious injuries, and particularly none that he developed playing in Oakland. As with most ex-Cardinal pitchers, you have to worry about Haren dying unexpectedly hahahahahaha

    Yes, I mean Iowa, the only school I'm aware of in the big 10 that grants instant admittance to out of state students because they are so desperate for qualified applicants. btw - I say this as someone with a HS senior applying for colleges right now. The HS counselor suggested applying to Iowa as a backup because, "they'll take just about anyone right now." Yes, that is people from Illinois' perception of Iowa, you're correct.
