  1. I have a feeling I'll be taking the points here
  2. That was an amazing series. I saw two of those games and it was pretty much exactly as you said. Total playoff atmosphere.
  3. not even close colvin blows and snider is the second coming of jose canseco. Ignore the fact snider has been slightly better than Alex Gordon in the bigs. Quiet down, adults are talking
  4. A lot of fans were turned off by his homerism, but to me that made him all the more endearing. Exactly. I don't understand why people would get upset at that. He is a Cubs announcer, he should be a Cubs homer. He was one of us, a fan who just happened to be in the booth. And Sox fans feel the same way about Hawk. It's all a matter of perspective. I don't care, I love him and will miss him
  5. He's a catcher. What do you want Koyie Hill hitting 3rd when he starts?? I want Koyie Hill shagging balls, and only every third day
  6. Well, as long as our best hitter is still getting the least amount of PAs...
  7. I might jump on the two of them to prevent them from going to TB for so little a return
  8. Who cares about Wells' stuff? What do you see in his makeup that suggests that he will start giving up walks or allowing HRs? His K's aren't impressive, but they could go down (i. e. decreases FB velocity) and he'd still be effective. Garza apparently has really good stuff but doesn't locate it well. Location is probably Wells' best asset and one doesn't lose it with age. What does his makeup have to do with it? Wells got worse this season. His numbers aren't impressive and neither is his stuff. He also has a fairly minimal track record. I'm just grasping at straws trying to divine why some are so sure he's trending toward a big decline. If you believe he's a good bet to rebound next year or to just not get worse every year from here on out, he's a solid value and we're selling him short if he's used to acquire a guy who's 10x more expensive and not markedly better than he is.

  10. Oh man, I see an opportunity to take some Sox fans to the cleaners this next season. Think they'll give me two-to-one that Pena has a better year than Konerko?
  11. I might just switch to full onboard 100% happy with this deal just because of statements like this. Yeah, it kinda feels like the Bradley deal, only with a much better chance of success
  12. No. The only pitfall to backloading contracts is that it makes them harder to trade in the later years, when the player isn't worth what he's getting paid at the end. But since you don't sign a player with the intent on trading him before his contract is up, it makes sense to backload from a business standpoint. I have to pay this player x amount of dollars over the course of 5 years; if I am afforded the opportunity, I'm going to pay him as little as I can right now in order to free up payroll in the immediate future, and then be able to adjust for the hit to the payroll at the back end.
  13. So you're saying he won't murder Pappas. Pass. Nice
  14. I agree with you. The guy is a lot like Big Z. He has great stuff, but has a hard time putting it all together. Boy has a big temper as well. This guy doesn't have Z's stuff, does he?
  15. LMAO. Keep dreaming LA "Turned down" is quite a euphemism for being "told to GTFO"
  16. Weren't his peripherals with the Yankees kind of atrocious? I think I remember someone saying that
  17. I hate all the Big Ten/SEC matchups except for OSU/AR
  18. You don't think it would have been all that bad if Jeter signed elsewhere? I think if there was some way they could have avoided spending that much money on Jeter without the public backlast they might have. Hmm. You should re-read the post you quoted
  19. This would be a really interesting acquisition, but I wish in earnest that Larry were still here for it
  20. It won't be the same? So you will hate them more? I think Marty is probably the last person I care to hear from on Ron Santo. Mike Schmidt FTW
  21. Please stop. You're making a fool of yourself
