That doesn't really say anything. It says that they've been the best defensive players outside of three guys that have considerations for defensive player of the year. That's something. No, still nothing. Outside of Marshall and Jeffrey, Earl Bennett has been the best receiver on this year's team. Does this say anything about how good he is compared to the rest of the league?
Need to start 2 of Cobb, Wallace, Decker, Vincent Jackson, and Dez Bryant (have Rashad Jennings in my flex spot, so that could be a third spot too). No PPR. And yes, I would definitely do the RG3 trade.
Maybe this goes in the "Orioles are the luckiest team ever" thread, but I'm putting this here as a perfect example of why baseball is awesome. http://deadspin.com/5942850/manny-machado-faked-out-the-orioles-announcers-camera-crew-26076-fans-and-one-tampa-bay-ray
He really isn't getting the pub he deserves. We've got our catcher. Love him. Needs to cut down on the strikeouts a little bit. Probably unrealistic to assume a 382 BAPIP going forward, so getting more balls in play would be great. But I agree....a definite bright spot from this season.
I see what you're saying, and I don't want to make it sound like I'm anti-Jackson, but generally don't you want to take the biggest sample size possible? I still think he can be valuable because I don't think he's a finished product. It might be a rough transition, but he's certainly not blocking anyone at this point, and the silver lining of this team's current ineptitude is that we can afford to let him prove himself to be a major league over a period longer than 2 months.
12 walks on the year. 5.7% rate. Yeah whoops, not sure how i came up with 5 Still not where I wanted it to be, but again, 22 years old holding his own. Hopefully he settles in around the 10% mark next year.
This has been a really rough patch. Castro and Rizzo not doing much, Vitters and Jackson not showing much of anything so far. Tough to watch, aside from the top 2 pick we might be getting.
I know it sounds crazy, but I wish it would have been a longer deal. If he progresses like we think he's going to progress, him hitting free agency at 29 is going to suck.
Don't know how to quote tweets in here, but Goldstein talking about Vogelbach/Boise now. You can thank/blame me for him talking about the Fielder/Vogelbach comps.
Wood bats for himself in the 7th of a one run game, and then doesn't come out to pitch the 8th? Brain fart from Sveum, or a message to the people on the bench (Vitters, Jackson, Cardenas)?
Can't help but chuckle at that. I've been giving him [expletive] about it on twitter for a couple days, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I'm surprised he got so butthurt, though. I was definitely one of those guys tonight. Whatever....taking criticism is an inherent part of the job. Especially when you interact nonstop with fans on twitter anyways.
I know realistically it's just one at bat, but if Castro doesn't get on his next at bat, it's going to be really, really depressing to see his OBP fall under .300
What's the point of protecting him? If they don't trust him to be an everyday player why bring him up. Let him work it out in AAA. And why treat Jackson so differently? Leading him off against a lefty in the best pitchers park in baseball yesterday?
DeJesus Castro Rizzo Sori Vitters Castillo Jackson Barney May not be very good (yet), but so much more exciting than this time last year. Especially considering our lineup on 8/5/11 had DeWitt, Colvin, and Koyie Hill in it.
