  1. Fairly certain that's the wrong link.
  2. Holy horsefeathers that is dumb. Murton would’ve been a really good player had he been around a smarter organization and/or was coming up now in the launch angle/juiced ball era. He was basically KB like at the plate from 05-07. It’s also hilarious we got him because Hendry just spoke up on the conference call finalizing the Nomar trade and said we’d take him at the 11th hour when there was confusion which of the teams he was going too and they didn’t have time to sort it through. I'm going to assume you meant "KB light/lite" there, because otherwise...no. He was definitely got a raw deal, but he wasn't some savior by any means.
  3. Who can forget the great Brian Matusz renaissance of 2016 Just kidding, he was so bad Theo had to personally apologize to the team and then he never pitched in the majors again
  4. the infield fly rule is idiotic and should be abolished. why do you get punished for grounding into a double play but you are protecting from hitting a weak pop-up? Stupid rule. Heh, I kind of agree with you, but there are also triple play considerations...which depending on your outlook, are a reason against or for the IFR. I've discussed this with my friends for 4 minutes and it's become my number one demand for baseball rules. Also a triple play would be almost impossible.
  5. He has 2, $14.5 million team options left. He’d be signing a 2/51 extension essentially while getting his options guaranteed. Idk, that seems pretty fair. For a guy who’d have to wait until he’s on the wrong side of 30 (he’ll be 32 as a FA and turns 33 during the year of his first FA year) and plays a position that typically doesn’t get paid great as guys hit 30+. It’s not bad but I could see rizzo looking at the deal goldschmidt got at 32 (5/130) and wanting that kind of security. I want to keep him but think he could indeed be pretty washed up in those age 35/36/37 years though. Outside of general inflation, Rizzo doesn't really deserve that kind of contract, because he's just not at Goldschmidt's level. I get that he might not want to hit FA at 34 (vs 32), so maybe you make it 6/110 or something like that. But Goldy was coming off a 5.1 fWAR year (after 5.2, 4.9, 7.2 the three years before that). Rizzo hasn't been above 5 since 2015, and we're potentially looking at two straight years under 4.
  6. The lineup has been pretty good lately, but I still like complaining, so Heyward should not be batting first against lefties Lol Almora in front of Happ (or anyone else) Actually just lol Almora
  7. Why? He's not a guy who's likely to age well. Being done with him after the 2021 season seems like a pretty good time to part ways. It's really funny that this came after he fisted a pop up to no mans land in short left center that still probably should have been caught (and then he gets caught in a run down to end the inning, which is 100% on brand). I can't decide if that makes me love it more or less.

  9. I assume Wood is going to be on some sort of pitch count given that it's just his third start back this year. Hopefully we can make the pen throw a lot of innings, which should pay dividends later on in the series. Castellanos has been hitting everyone, hoping for a big game here against a lefty.
  10. "Guys getting to go to legit contenders CAN BE a spark and turn back the clock" That's the statement you are saying is "100% a fact"? If so...I mean, congrats man. You win. Like, this is the problem with you using the most cherry picked stats and examples possible. There are going to be cherry picked stats and examples that prove the opposite point. It's really not productive to just go back and forth on 'well this guy turned good' 'yeah but this guy sucked' because it has nothing to do with the (likely bad) catcher we just acquired. But guess what, most people around here don't like you, based on previous conversations, so you're going to get it coming back. It was a really funny joke by abuck that turned into...whatever this is.
  11. On July 15th when the Red Sox traded for him and they had a 54.3% chance to make the playoffs per Fangraphs. 9 out of 1st? ...What's your argument here? That the wild card race doesn't magically inspire bad players to play better? What part of the Astros having the division locked up by June inspired Aaron Sanchez?
  12. Andrew Cashner with the Orioles: 3.83 ERA, 1.8 fWAR Andrew Cashner with the Red Sox (pennant chase!): 7.53 ERA, -0.2 WAR. When did Boston get in a pennant chase? On July 15th when the Red Sox traded for him and they had a 54.3% chance to make the playoffs per Fangraphs.

  14. If it wasn't for the absolutely garbage Russell views (which in turn led to more garbage views), you'd almost have to be impressed at the trolling.
  15. Breaking: After a player gets traded (or really, just pick any date you want), they will either play better or worse then they had previously been playing. Historically, some have played better, while others have regressed. This has happened thousands of times in baseball history, and thus there are numerous examples on both sides, neither of which actually proves any sort of point. Hopefully everyone is having fun.
  16. Now do Daniel Descalso. Then do Carlos Gonzalez. Then do Martin Maldonado.
  17. umm...you know he wasn't actually trying to make a legitimate argument and was mocking you right? Yes then I took the chance to point out his hero KB has the same amount of hits as JL in St Louis this year which I know he didn't like. "his hero KB"...just, you know, the team's best player during by far the best Cubs run in any of our lifetimes. That horsefeathers.
  18. Derek Holland and his one PA has more offensive fWAR than Almora.
  19. i bet it will. he'll be like "i'm gonna hit like i did the last time i was in the NL central." Laughing way too hard at this
  20. Nice little .273/.429/.455 line our favorite serial killer all of a sudden. Walks are good...who knew?
  21. https://www.12up.com/posts/anthony-swarzak-s-wife-outed-for-sending-wildly-ignorant-dms-to-wife-of-white-sox-star-tim-anderson-01dhp6b2sxhc Mrs. Giolito posting DMs between Mrs (Tim) Anderson and Mrs Swarzak (of the Braves) about the El Paso shooting. Why not.
  22. I like dongs as much as the next guy, but that outfield would be a disaster.
