  1. No more Dopirak. or blanco to the 60 day dl? No more Ohman. Wishful thinking.
  2. Ugghh...you never like to see players going after managers. Except if it's the other team. Go get him Johnny!
  3. Wow, you're on top of this. Nicely done. I will be in the bleachers in lieu of the office.
  4. Did Dave Kaplan just say "came to blows in the clubhouse" referring to Milwaukee? I missed the names but swear I heard this. Anyone hear? Edit: If I misheard, feel free to lock.
  5. For real? Can this experiment end yet? Why? He projects to be a better everyday player than Theriot. I agree that he's ice cold right now and probably needs to sit a few like Ryan did earlier, but to talk like he's busted for good is a bit premature. Theriot can play SS. Right, and Fontenot can play 2nd when DeRosa sits or has to cover elsewhere. Yeah, I would just like to see DeRosa as much as possible. Seems like he's sat a few times recently. My guess is Lou is trying to keep him as healthy as possible seeing as he's our main backup at a number of key spots. Overall, I wonder what will happen to Fontenot. Ideally, 2B is Patterson's for the taking at some point next season. If Mike can pick things back up the rest of this season, maybe he can be part of a decent trade package. Yeah, I guess it can get pretty tiring switching positions as often as he does.

  8. He won't pitch until Friday, at the earliest. Edit: Nevermind, by tomorrow, you mean Friday.
  9. Prove it. Haha, nothing in that statement needs to be proved. Defenders flat out despise slow pitchers and tend to not make as many great plays behind them. If this is "definitely" true it will be rather easily proved. Is that the only response you can ever come up with, "prove it"? How about this...how about you prove to me that it isn't true, then we can talk. I don't need statistics to prove to me what I know to be an effect on pitcher's after playing for 20 years as an amateur and professional.

  11. But anyways; I'm getting ready to leave work and head home and to the game. Let's have tonight's outcome be better than Monday's please. I actually think Monday was my first loss in the last 7 games attended (but my dad was with me and they only win when he's there if he's not in my seats).
  12. I think it says guys don't like playing behind Rich. He is slow, throws lots of pitches and really doesn't get the defense involved (Lots of K's and flyballs). Whoa whoa whoa I'm not saying anything like that, I'm just saying it might affect Rich a little pyschologically. He plays his heart out and the bats never seem to pay him any favors. I know what you're saying. And I'm saying that maybe if he pitched a little faster (lower pitch counts, quicker innings) that the bats might pick him up more often. I'm saying that's crazy talk. Oh really? Have you eve played baseball before? Go ask a fielder how much they hate playing behind a Steve Trachsel type, then get back to me. I totally get (& buy into) what you're saying on the defensive side, but I guess I just can't see how it would necessarily carry-over to the offensive side. Admittedly, I only played baseball up through high school... If a player is carrying his angst over a slow pitcher w/ him up to the plate, dude needs to simply sack-up & get over it, IMO. Well, I don't necessarily think it's angst so much as it is just loss of focus. But yes, a slow pitcher definitely hurts themselves defensively (more so than runs being scored for him).

Oh really? Have you eve played baseball before? Go ask a fielder how much they hate playing behind a Steve Trachsel type, then get back to me. Here's the thing...if all we went by was personal experience we'd be confused about a lot of things. For example, it seems like everytime I'm frustrated with traffic, Nickleback starts playing on the radio to add to my frustration. If I just went with my personal experience, I would believe there was a connection between my frustration and Nickleback being played on the radio (for the record, I don't have any fancy XM stuff or do I have a cd player for my vehicle, so I'm stuck with FM radio). However, if I were to look at the broadcast schedule for the radio station, I would see the the playlist was planned ahead of time and they play Nickleback every 5 minutes, so I am bound to hear Nickleback at a frequent rate when I am frustrated. The times I hear Nickleback while already frustrated stick out in my mind due to the excessive levels of frustration they cause at that time. ...The moral of my story is this: You can't make arguments based only on personal experience. #1 - That post was extremely confusing. The moral of the story helped however. #1a - I didn't base one thing I said off personal experience. I was a pitcher, not a position player. #2 - I said "Go ask a fielder". I have been told numerous times (and heard great baseball minds say) that playing behind a pitcher who is slow and doesn't get the fielders involved is very difficult. It is extremely hard to stay in the game and on your toes when you have someone like that on the mound. Baseball is a game of rhythm. Now I'm not saying that this is 100% effective scenario because obviously it's not, but over the course of time I'd be willing to bet that pitchers like that tend to get a little less run support than faster pitchers.

What's that got to do w/ swinging the bats? It has a ton to do with swinging the bats. Pitchers who are faster and tend to get their fielders involved more get better run support.

  18. Watch how much Marquis throws across his body. Very bad. He needs to step more towards home plate and not 3rd base.
  19. It's only HD if you have a HD antenna. I have HD and WCIU is the worst picture I have ever seen. I have HD also but WCIU is a local channnel that broadcast HD and they have no HD channel. So in order to get their HD you need a local HD Antenna. Like these: http://www.antennasdirect.com/ Incorrect. RCN Cable has WCIU HD.
  20. That seriously is the most ignorant statement ever. How did Milwaukee get better, Scott Linebrink? Have you forgotten that we have been consistently gaining on them for 2 months? My God.
  21. You have that much faith in Cubs management that you believe the fact that something wasn't done is justification for it not having been done? Well, I'm not gonna get all bent out of shape about it like you and Keener. Jesus Christ you two are pieces of work. Hendry is in a no win situation with most of you. He makes a trade, it's terrible. He doesn't make a trade, he's an idiot.
  22. What were they gonna do? Trade Pie? People mad Trade Marmol? People mad Trade Murton? People mad, but not as many.
