    Ideally, I'd like a mix of guys like Paul that are good enough to really boost the program but not good enough for early entry and then mix in some of the one and done's. Exactly. I would take Jabari Parker in a heartbeat. Do I want 3-4 guys like that, year in and year out? No. And Kentucky is pulling in guys who are foreign, suspended for the first half of the year, etc. It's more like an AAU team than a university. But quite honestly, I'm sure Kentucky fans don't care. I've been around enough of them to know that they basically = Alabama football fans.

    This is going to be a rough one, from the games I watched there's no PG and Cal's offense relies on that. There's no flow to this group nor a true scorer. This is the price they pay for being a one and done team. If the price to pay is winning lots and lots of games, making it to the Final Four, winning a national championship and getting to cheer for players like John Wall, Anthony Davis, MKG and I suppose Nerlens Noel, then I want to pay that price. Do you really though? I mean I can't imagine rooting for a team who attend said university for 1 year (and probably attend class for a semester). You don't even have time to learn about the players, enjoy their personalities, etc. And then they get to call themselves "alumni" of the school? What a joke. I, for one, am happy that Illinois does not have this type of team.

    I'm not sure if anyone ever got to this, but just an FYI for those who may not know...James McAdoo is NOT Bob's son. Bob McAdoo is James McAdoo's dad's second cousin. So, his third cousin??

    Why are you mentioning these players' prospect status'? All of them have lengthy MLB track records.

    Nice move for the Nationals. I'd trade a good low level pitching prospect to have Span at 2/12 with an option for 3/21. ...if we were planning on competing in the next few years. I'm taking the seemingly complete lack of interest in Upton and Span as a sign the front office might be more hopeful in Brett Jackson's future than I had assumed. Honestly, and I still like Brett enough, I'm taking it as they weren't going to spend the dough on a guy when they likely won't compete for the playoffs in a the next year or two and that they weren't going to give up a high quality arm for a stopgap CF, which I agree with. Exactly correct...why pay for BJ Upton when his best years will be behind him when we're ready to compete? Like it or not, that's the front office new MO. And I'm all for it.

    I think I'm changing Maryland to NW. Feel a bit more confident in Iowa now as well and less confident in UNC. It's gonna be their first true road game and it could get ugly.

    November 2011, I don't think you found many people on here who could imagine throwing away 2 years either. I think most sensible people could. I could, given the state of affairs. I couldn't imagine throwing four years away, and I still can't. I agree. I would assume many thought we would be competing by the third year.

    I get what you're saying but I have way too much else to be concerned with, in regards to the Cubs and life, that I can't even begin to think about 2014 right now. With these signings only being 1 year, maybe the plan is to sign a big name guy next offseason? It is frustrating this team probably won't be that good again next year but I just can't imagine they are willing to throw 3 years away at the major league level.

    My picks for tonight: FSU > Minnesota (FSU -3) Iowa > VTech (Iowa +3)** Michigan > NC State (NC State +6.5) WF > Nebraska (Nebraska +6)** Maryland > NW (Maryland +4) Indiana > UNC (UNC +9.5) ** - Really not much clue on these crap fests. So 3-3 after tonight I guess. I think we see a bunch of close games tonight. I think Minnesota is really going to struggle heading to FSU after being in the Bahamas or wherever. NC State is a Final Four team for me (along with Michigan, Indiana & Louisville) so I think they give Michigan a run for their money tonight. If this game were played 2 weeks ago it would be Michigan -4. I think Maryland's size poses problems for NW and they get the road win. UNC is pissed and has a real shot to knock off Indiana. Should be a good one.

What a joke of a program. fyi, i laughed when you told illininutt to die of old age already. Lol, that was awesome. The kid said he felt like everything he threw up went in. You missed 50 3s. He's the worst, isn't he? Surprised I wasn't booted for that considering that new Fletcher guy has warned me 2 previous times.
