  1. Yup: Look at who made the not-so-hot sheet :(:
  2. Guzman vs. Volquez. What a sexy matchup...
  3. Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Angel Guzman (3-4, 4.28 ERA, 54.2 IP, 58/16, 1.24 WHIP) vs. RHP Edinson Volquez (4-6, 3.32 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Sean Gallagher (4-2, 2.60 ERA, 34.2 IP, 36/23, 1.50 WHIP) Daytona: RHP Justin Berg (6-6, 4.68 ERA, 98 IP, 76/46, 1.56 WHIP) Peoria: LHP Jesus Yepez (4-5, 3.42 ERA, 92 IP, 48/46, 1.42 WHIP) vs. RHP Anthony Cupps (6-4, 4.77 ERA) Boise: RHP Billy Petrick (3-0, 2.10 ERA, 25.2 IP, 19/8, 4 HBP, 1.16 WHIP) @ RHP Ricky Orta (2-0, 4.15 ERA) Mesa: RHP Jake Renshaw (0-0, 4.50 ERA, 4 IP, 2/1, 1.75 WHIP) *Take Mesa's probable starter with a grain of salt as they shuffle their pitchers from the rotation to the pen with frequency. Also, Chris Huseby is expected to make his Mesa debut sometime this week.
  4. Can't show up Hollywood. I mean, what is Canzler's nickname?
  5. Maybe it's something in that Northwest air ;) Pawelek is hitting guys left and right too. For Pawelek, I don't it's the Northwest air. :P
  6. Pawelek will hit more during the same time. Head hunters.
  7. Wuertz didn't hit a HR today. DJ Lewis did. We should be talking about Hollywood. Get your priorities straight, people.
  8. YES!!! Hollywood's first pro homer! :D
  9. Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Jerome Williams (2-3, 4.74 ERA, 57 IP, 30/18, 1.61 WHIP) Daytona: LHP Carlos Perez (2-5, 4.91 ERA, 69.2 IP, 54/39, 1.79 WHIP) Peoria: RHP Todd Blackford (8-3, 4.29 ERA, 98.2 IP, 43/43, 1.43 WHIP) Boise: RHP Jeff Samardzija (0-1, 3.21 ERA, 14 IP, 9/4, 4 HBP, 1.36 WHIP) Mesa: RHP Taylor Paker (1-0, 0.56 ERA, 16 IP, 12/4, 1.00 WHIP) *Take Mesa's probable starter with a grain of salt as they shuffle their pitcher from the rotation to the pen with frequency. At times, this is nothing more than just a best guess.
  10. Hopefully he'll replace Samardzija in Peoria when it's time for Jeff to go back to ND.
  11. Thanks, Ron. In the bottom of the 8th, Boise is threatening (with one out): Matulia singled. Colvin blooped a single, Matulia to second. Matulia stole third base, Colvin stole second. Lansford walks (duh), bases loaded. Russ Canzler strikes out swinging on a 1-2 count. Two outs. Alfred Joseph bloops a flyball to the shortstop who catches it but drops it after he collides with the second baseman. Matulia and Colvin score, Lansford goes to third and Joseph to second. Boise now up 4-3. Elvin Puello grounds out, 3-1.
  12. Boise is still up 2-1 in the 8th, but Vancouver has runners at 2nd and 3rd and 1 out.. Oooo, Vancouver tries a suicide squeeze but the batter misses and the Canadian baserunner is out at home. But then, the ump rules it was a foul ball and everyone's safe. Ugh, Maestri strikes out Klug swinging but the pitch gets away for a WP and the tying run scores. The strikeout victim goes all the way to second, so runners once again at 2nd and 3rd and still 1 out. And now an IBB will load the bases with 1 out. Maestri gives up the lead on a sac fly and then gets out of the inning. Vancouver leads it 3-2.
  13. Peoria up 4-3 after 7. Norwood joined YUSUF in the HR column with a solo shot. Boise is up 2-1 thanks to a Matulia triple, Colvin RBI infield single, Canzler single and a Joseph RBI single. Pawelek: 4 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 3/2, HBP. Brett Jackson now pitching in the 5th. The run Pawelek gave up came on a HR. Mesa loses 12-7.
  14. Peoria is up 3-2 in the 5th. YUSUF hit a 2-run shot (#8 of the season). Estrada has given up 1 earned (2 total) in 5 IP. Pawelek has a shutout first (but gives up a hit and a walk), it's scoreless in the middle of the first in Boise. Matt Maredo and Rafael Dolis 9 runs in the 6th, 7th and 8th. The Brewers now lead Mesa 12-7.
  15. Patterson had the nice play last year I believe where he dove and threw someone out at 2nd I think...but I have no idea when they threw someone out at the plate. My guess is that it probably was Patterson...but I can't remember anyone gunning anyone down in the last couple years even. I remember Corey doing it late '04. It was against the Padres, I believe the game went to rain delay with the bases loaded and the Cubs with a 1 run lead or tied. Come back from delay and like the first pitch goes out to center, Corey catches and guns the guy down trying to score. that was when he had like 3 assists in 2 games. The game he had against the Dodgers was fun.
  16. Looks like 40th rounder Eli Diaz started for Mesa today. He went 1.1 shutout innings. Mesa is up 6-3 in the 5th inning. Drew Rundle is 1 for 3.
  17. Awesome: http://www.dodgerblues.com/images/furcal-throw-away.jpg
  18. Why would the Angels do that? Sulley, I think you're overpaying for Freel and Abreu.
  19. Probable Starters: Iowa: LHP Rich Hill (6-1, 1.81 ERA, 84.2 IP, 107/19, 0.86 WHIP) @ LHP Chris George (1-3, 5.22 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Federico Baez Daytona (game 1): RHP Mark Holliman (6-5, 3.65 ERA, 93.2 IP, 87/40, 1.21 WHIP) Daytona (game 2): LHP Phil Norton (1-0, 0.93 ERA, 9.2 IP, 6/3, 1.03 WHIP) Peoria: RHP Jesse Estrada (5-1, 4.28 ERA, 48.1 IP, 22/16, 1.51 WHIP) vs. RHP Vince Bongiovanni (4-0, 1.86 ERA) Boise: LHP Mark Pawelek (0-3, 5.11 ERA, 12.1 IP, 9/8, 6 HBP, 1.87 WHIP) vs. RHP Inoel Deaza (2-1, 2.97 ERA) Mesa: RHP Eli Diaz* (--) *Take Mesa's probable starter with a grain of salt as they shuffle their pitcher from the rotation to the pen with frequency. At times, this is nothing more than just a best guess.
  20. You are correct, sir! An amazing turn around for Mr. Jon. He actually had quite a bit of faith in this group before the season if I remember correctly. Just for the record: I hate being right when I look at the Cubs in ST and think they are going to suck. Nah, Jon didn't have much faith in this group going into this season...last season, maybe.
  21. It's his second go-round! Angel Guzman deserves some mention somewhere on your list (Rocketing UP the List?) just for being healthy.
  22. Aww, only 2 starts...and here's the release: http://www.peoriachiefs.com/news/?id=6244
