  1. So far, Mark's FB has only been clocked at 90 and 91 mph. The announcer has said his "breaking pitch is filthy" a few times.
  2. Prior vs. Ryan Church: Called strike 1. Ball 1 just low. Strike 2 fouled off. Ball 2 high. Pitch fouled off. Strike 3 swinging on a nasty pitch in the dirt. Prior strikes out the side in the first: 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 3/0, 15 pitches (11 strikes).
  3. Prior vs. Henry Mateo: Called strike 1 inside. Strike 2 fouled off. Ball 1. Strike 3 swinging on a "nasty breaking pitch."
  4. New Orleans faces Prior today and Clemens on Friday. Prior vs. Bernie Castro: Ball 1 low (90 mph). Called strike 1 inside. Strike 2 fouled away. Hard curve ball fouled off (79 mph). Called strike 3 on the inside (91 mph).
  5. Pie (batting second) gets an IF single to shortstop in the top of the first but is erased on an inning-ending Michael Restovich GIDP.
  6. 7. Overall: 12 IP, 4.50 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, .234 BAA, 12/2 K/BB Peoria: 7 IP, 3.86 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, .250 BAA, 8/0 K/BB West Tenn: 5 IP, 5.40 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, .211 BAA, 4/2 K/BB I can do PBP, but MiLB.com actually has Gameday for AAA games. Go here and click on the Gameday link for the second line score (which is the Iowa game).
  8. He'd go back to Vegas. I just checked this out, LaRoche was promoted to AAA Las Vegas yesterday. Sorry, Vance.
  9. Flames, are you listening to the game? If so, how has Billek sounded?
  10. Don't forget Andy LaRoche and Tony Abreu with Jacksonville. Escobar should be very exciting to watch; Saltalamacchia has had a down year thus far.
  11. Ouch, Outshined! P.S. Please don't take shots at Naperville, I used to live there.
  12. This is when I point out the Cubs should really look into a minor league team in California. The I-Cubs visiting the Central Valley once every 3 years is all I got. :(
  13. That's how I read it and I think it's absurd.
  14. It's based on how high the player was rated at the time of that draft.
  15. Will he be on the Hot List?
  16. Because he strikes out a lot and only hits meaningless HRs! Duh..
  17. I think the Cubs real problem as a lot of power but not a lot of OBP. They hit a lot of solo home runs and were very inconsistent. The Reds are a very good offensive ballclub, the Cubs were average. In the past, that was true. But this season, the Cubs lack power and OBP.
  18. I've been concerned with his relative lack of power in a hitter's league, moreso than his patience (which, of course, is a concern).
  19. Interesting note about the picks in this decade from Ask BA: Only 4 guys from this year's draft (including Hochevar)...definitely shows the weakness of this year's draft in comparison to other years (at least at the time of each draft).
  20. Can someone give those of us at work summaries, please? It'd be greatly appreciated.
  21. .261/.331/.420/.751, 60 SOs, 22 BBs, 12 doubles, 4 triples, 6 HRs, 4 SBs, 7 CSs. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Felix%20Pie&pos=&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=429712
  22. Oof, that was close. Game ends in a scoreless tie.
  23. Their first album was in 1991! Is Sean really 31? ;) Thanks for the link, Serena. Interesting to read about the slider-curve situation.
  24. Looking back after the draft and a bit of this season has gone by, I wonder if the Cubs woul offer arbitration to any of these players. The only one I would is to Todd Walker, and Cubs management can't stand him and might not do it. It'd be great to see the Cubs get some extra picks in 2007 to make up the loss of 3 picks this year.
