    That sounds inappropriate...

Gallagher still having AA control problems: 4 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 3 K. Daytona up 10-5 on Dunedin after 5. Bronder, not Berg, started the game for Daytona. The D-Cubs have scored 10 runs without an extra basehit yet. Peoria down 4-3 to Western Michigan in the 6th. Chirinos has a solo HR. Blackford: 5 IP, 5 H, 4 R (2 ER), 6 K, 4 BB

On the spectrum of problems that are keeping the Cubs from competing, Aramis not hustling probably isn't going to crack the top 10.

I'm impressed with Ethier as much as the next guy, but I'd prefer Maddux for Joel Guzman straight up, if it meant we could hold onto our relievers. If the Dodgers are sold on Ethier and Kemp, then Guzman becomes more expendable (although I realize he could just go back to 3B). The Dodgers have soured a tad on Guzman, he'll be the easiest of their young guys to acquire.

Probable Starters: West Tenn: RHP Sean Gallagher (5-2, 2.45 ERA, 40.1 IP, 41/26, 1.49 WHIP) @ RHP Josh Hall (5-3, 3.66 ERA) Daytona: RHP Justin Berg (6-6, 4.68 ERA, 98 IP, 76/46, 1.56 WHIP) vs. LHP Eric Fowler (7-8, 3.94 ERA) Peoria: RHP Todd Blackford (8-3, 4.59 ERA, 104 IP, 44/48, 1.47 WHIP) @ LHP Erik Averill (5-4, 3.63 ERA) Boise: RHP Jose Pina (1-2, 4.08 ERA, 28.2 IP, 10/8, 1.15 WHIP) vs. LHP Shane Dove (1-3, 1.15 ERA) Mesa: RHP Oscar Bernard (1-3, 3.77 ERA, 14.1 IP, 8/7) & RHP Robert Hernandez (2-0, 2.25 ERA, 16 IP, 9/5) *Take Mesa's probable starter with a grain of salt as they shuffle their pitchers from the rotation to the pen with frequency. Peoria pitchers will get a chance to face one of the baseball's top prospects in Cameron Maybin.

<3 Billy Petrick and DJ Lewis.

Supposedly, the Dodgers have asked about the availability of Howry/Eyre/Dempster in any Maddux trade.

This is my belief on the Williamson matter. It might have been better to hold onto him and package him, but I don't think it would have made a big difference either way.

Nashville is playing a DH today and lost game 1. Their lead on Iowa is 3.5 games now, with one more game of the DH to go. West Tenn is 1 back in the SL North.
