  1. Cooper vs Tracy: Ball 1 high. Bloop single to RF, Gentry to third base. Cooper vs. Marquardt: Ball 1 outside. Groundout to second, 4-3! Boise wins 5-4 and Mark Pawelek gets his first professional win.
  2. Wow! 26/9 K/BB ratio for him now in 22IP. The 0.77 WHIP and 0.82 ERA aren't too bad either  Now 27/9 in 22.2, 0.79 ERA and 0.79 WHIP.
  3. Colvin fouls out, he ends up going 2/5. To the bottom of the 9th we go, Papelbon is still in there and Boise is up 5-4. Napoli Ks to open up the bottom of the 9th! Bah, Gentry with a line single barely past a leaping Mattulia. Mound visit. Killian flies out to Colvin in LF. Two outs. Chad Tracy due up, Michael Cooper will come in to replace Papelbon for the R-R matchup. Papelbon: 2.2 IP, 0 R (1 inherited run scored), 2 H, BB, 5 K, runner at first is his responsibility.
  4. John Manuel of BA did a chat on the midseason rankings a few weeks back.
  5. Tabata (age 17 at low-A!) has emerged this year after Hughes did last season (though I'd say he's behind Homer Bailey for the title of best pitching prospect, unlike Scout). Those 2 are top-20 prospects nationwide, but the rest isn't that great.
  6. Tucson adds a third run. Casey McGehee has gotten a second Iowa single. Then, in the 7th, Deardorff singles, Hoffpauir walks and Soto gets an RBI double to make it 3-1! Tucson is up 3-1 after 7. O'Malley: 7 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 R, BB, 96 pitches (61 strikes). ------------- Jeremy Papelbon coming in here in the 7th for Boise after the leadoff hitter gets on against Rulhman. Papelbon gets a K and a FC (near GIDP) so far. Sorry, I stepped away to watch Lewis Black on the Daily Show. While I was gone, Spokane scored one time and there are runners at the corners. Papelbon gets the K to end the inning! Boise is up 5-4 after 7.
  7. Sounds like he's living dangerously; I'd really like to see that 12/22 K/BB ratio improve. It seems like he gave up quite a few sharp hits and line outs tonight, any idea what his GO-FO ratio looks like for the season? Before today's start, his GO-FO was 41-28.* Keep in mind, he was much worse before his last two starts. Hopefully he's figured something out and keeps it going past the last 10 innings (1 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, HBP, 11 K, 8 GO, 9 FO). *Stats from minorleaguesplits.com, which are based on the MiLB.com splits which are incorrect for Pawelek because they were off in 2 of his appearances.
  8. Colvin should probably get called up within the next few weeks. I think Alfred Joseph will stay at Boise all season. Spokane scores one off Ruhlman on a triple (nearly a fantastic play by Camp to catch that) and a double all with 2 outs. Now an RBI single by Haefner (Colvin almost threw the guy out at home) and Haefner advances to second on the throw. Boise now up 5-3 with 2 outs in the 6th.
  9. Pawelek's night is indeed done. His final line is: 5 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, BB, HBP, 2 WPs, 6 Ks, 84 pitches (54 strikes), 2 GOs, 5 FOs. On the season, he's got this stat line (ignore MiLB.com and BA, they have mistaken Pawelek twice this season so their stats aren't correct): 26.1 IP, 3.07 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, .225 BAA, 23 Hs, 22 BBs, 9 HBP, 5 WPs, 12 Ks. LHP Jason Ruhlman now in for Boise.
  10. Iowa down 2-0 after 5 now. Bass still throwing a perfect game. Colvin with an RBI single to score Matt Mattulia from 2nd. Tyler is now 2/4 with a single, double, a run, an RBI and a SB. Boise now leads it 5-1. Clevenger and Canzler can't do anything and we go to the bottom of the 6th, Boise leading 5-1.
  11. hummm....... maby I can see the future????? Hopefully the pen won't blow it like last time.
  12. Mark Pawelek is back out there for the 5th: Pawelek vs. Napoli: Ball 1 low. Strike 1 called. Lines out to second base, 1 out. Pawelek vs. Gentry: Ball 1. Popped foul and barely into the stands, strike 1. Ball 2 inside. Triple to RF. Pawelek vs. Killian: Fouled off into the stands, strike one. (Announcer makes fun of 4 different fans who couldn't catch the foul). Strike 2 swinging. Ball 1 low and inside. Ball 2 inside, nearly hit Killian. Bounced foul. Strike 3 called! Snap throw by Canepa catches Gentry off third base to end the inning! 5 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, BB, HBP, 2 WPs, 6 Ks, 84 pitches (54 strikes), 2 GOs, 5 FOs. Mark should be done, solid outing. Boise leads it 4-1 after 5.
  13. With one out in the 5th, Canzler lines a single to RF. Alfred Joseph follows with a line single to RF, Canzler to second. Time for a mound visit. DJ Lewis grounds into a FC, 6-4-3 (Lewis safe at first, Joseph out at second, Canzler advances to third). DJ steals second. Clevenger grounds a single into RF, Canzler and Lewis score. Clevenger advances to second on the throw. Boise up 4-1. Canepa strikes out. In the middle of the 5th, Boise is up 4-1.
  14. Iowa down 2-0 in the middle of the 5th. O'Malley: 4 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 59 pitches, 37 strikes. The I-Cubs have yet to muster up a hit.
  15. Mark Pawelek's 4th inning: Pawelek vs. Marquardt: Ball 1 outside. Strike 1 called. Line single to CF. Pawelek vs. Cadena: Popped up to second base, 1 out. Pawelek vs. Davis: Ball 1 in the dirt, wild pitch as Marquardt advances to second. Strike 1 swinging. (Can hear the crowd singing "Happy Birthday." :-k) Ball 2 high. Strike 2 called. Line single to RF, Marquardt scores. :( Pawelek vs. Haefner: Line single to LF, Davis to second. Pawelek vs. Kemp: Coaching visit. Ball 1 low and inside. Ball 2. LHP Jason Ruhlman warming up in the pen. Strike 1 swinging, Canepa catches Davis trying to steal third. Haefner to second, 2 outs. Ground ball fouled, strike 2. Barely fouled back. Curveball, strike 3 called! 4 IP, 4 Hs, 1 ER, BB, HBP, 5 Ks, 2 WPs, 71 pitches (46 strikes) Boise leads it 2-1 after 4.

Listening off their web site: http://boisehawks.com/multimedia/audio/ They even have video for their home games. EDIT: Clevenger with a leadoff IF single, advances to second on a WP (where Canepa K's) and scores on a Matt Camp single. Camp advances to second on the throw home and third on a FC for Matulia. Colvin grounds out, 3-1 to end the top of the 4th. In the middle of the 4th, Boise leads it 2-0.
  17. Mark Pawelek's third inning: Pawelek vs. Napoli: Strike 1 looking. Strike 2 swnging. Ball 1 outside. Fouled off to the stands down the first base line. Strike 3 swinging! Pawelek vs. Gentry: Strike 1 swinging. Ball 1 low. Fouled back to the screen, strike 2. Hit by pitch. Pawelek vs. Killian: Foul ball on a failed hit and run, strike 1. Strike 2 called, outside corner. Ball 1 in the dirt and gets away, Gentry advances to second base on the WP. Strike 3 swinging! Pawelek vs. Chad Tracy (Jim Tracy's son): Check swing, ball 1 low. Check swing, went around, strike 1. Strike 2 swinging. Strike 3 swinging! 3 IP, H, 0 R, BB, HBP, 4 Ks, WP, 55 pitches (35 strikes) Boise leads it 1-0 after 3.
  18. Colvin leads off the 3rd inning with a ground rule double, his 9th double of the year. Lansford moves him over to third on a 4-3 groundout and one out later, Alfred Joseph scores Colvin with an RBI double. DJ Lewis strikes out to end the inning. :( Boise up 1-0 in the middle of the 3rd.
  19. Mark Pawelek's 2nd inning: Pawelek vs. Marquardt: Ball 1. Ball 2 inside. Ball 3 inside. Ball 4 outside, bases on balls. Pawelek vs. Cadena: Strike 1 looking. Strike 2 looking. 20. Ack, Matulia came up with the bases loaded and drove one to deep CF, but not deep enough. The Hawks have stranded 5 through 2 innings.
  21. Boo. The Spokane stadium plays Backstreet Boys when DJ Lewis comes up.
  22. Mark Pawelek's bottom of the 1st inning: Pawelek vs. Gentry: Strike 1 looking, outside corner. Ball 1 outside. Strike 2 swinging. Ball 2 high. Grounder back to the box, 1-3. 1 out. Fly out to CF 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 19 pitches (12 strikes), 2 GO, 1 FO
  23. With runners at second and third and no out, Colvin grounds into a FC, 3-2. Spokane's first baseman guns out the lead runner at home. Gah, Lansford and Canzler strike out to end the inning (with a Colvin SB sprinkled in there). To the bottom of the first we go in Spokane, 0-0. ----- Peoria adds 3 insurance runs in the top of the 9th to make it 11-4 as we go to the bottom of the 9th.
