  1. He hasn't signed. His reported deal was $900k and with it, the Cubs would likely have gone over their pool based on other estimates, so this is probably the hang up on signing him.
  2. Jefferson Rojas at 120, James Triantos at 181.
  3. Ehh, they all have massive red flags. Derniche strikes out way too much in the complex league (and maybe the two stints on the restricted list are a strike against him), Cruz was bad in the DSL and Mulé walked 42 guys in 52 innings last season while looking more like a 1 inning RP. Only one I'd have in my top 30 is Naz and that's because I'm giving him a one-year mulligan on the control due to the TJS.
  4. BA's full preseason top 30: https://www.baseballamerica.com/teams/2005-chicago-cubs/prospects/?season=2025&ranking=preseason 1. Matt Shaw 2. Cade Horton 3. Moisés Ballesteros 4. Owen Caissie 5. Kevin Alcántara 6. Jefferson Rojas 7. James Triantos 8. Brandon Birdsell 9. Jaxon Wiggins 10. Cole Mathis 11. Jonathon Long 12. Juan Tomas 13. Ángel Cepeda 14. Benjamin Cowles 15. Pedro Ramírez 16. Brody McCullough 17, Wilfri de la Cruz 18. Ronny Cruz 19. Yahil Melendez 20. Cristian Hernández 21. Ty Southisene 22. Gage Workman 23. Pablo Aliendo 24. Juan Cabada 25. Will Sanders 26. Alexander Canario - has lost his prospect status 27. Jack Neely 28. Nick Dean 29. Sam Armstrong 30. Brett Bateman
  5. Jackson Ferris also made this list.
  6. Berti played multiple playoff games at 1B last year for the Yankees. He'd probably be the first up. Happ has some 1B experience in the bigs too. Ballesteros has a bit of experience in the minors. Alcántara would probably be the first choice at CF if PCA is hurt, ahead of Canario I'd guess.
  7. MLB Pipeline top 100: Cam Smith - 59 Jackson Ferris - 71 Zyhir Hope - 75
  8. 35. Matt Shaw 54. Cade Horton 62. Moisés Ballesteros 64. Owen Caissie 71. Kevin Alcántara No James Triantos 51. Zyhir Hope 55. Cam Smith 82. Jackson Ferris
  9. Great news for Cade Horton: https://www.mlb.com/cubs/news/cade-horton-looks-to-join-cubs-in-2025
  10. Anything $10k or less doesn't count to your pool.
  11. The big dollar Cubs guys all signed today so that speculation was pointless.
  12. None of the Cubs signings are official. I wonder if a pool space trade is in the works. Obviously they're currently over their pool space so something needs to give. I wonder if they'd let one of their top IFAs go and trade pool space to the Sasaki winner for a good prospect.
  13. He's listed at 6' on MiLB.com and BA said he is 5'10" but age matches up so I think you're right.
  14. Cubs signings per Francys Romero and Baseball America: SS Wilfri de la Cruz, Dominican Republic - $2.3 million SS Juan Cabada, Dominican Republic - $1.5 million IF Juan Thomas, Dominican Republic- $1.1 million SS Jaims Martínez, Cuba - $900,000 SS Luis Santos, Dominican Republic - $135,000 OF Julio Acosta, Dominican Republic - $124,000 RHP Erick Hernández, Venezuela - $75,000 IF Luis Abreu, Dominican Republic - $60,000 SS Elerick Gómez, Venezuela - $60,000 IF Alexander Herrera, Venezuela - $30,000 OF Freiker Betancourt, Venezuela - $25,000 OF Luis Sánchez, Venezuela - $20,000 RHP Tadeo Gámez, Mexico Current pool is $6,261,600 so either some of these signings aren't official or the Cubs are going to need to trade for pool space.
  15. I do like blending together all the major national publications. It paints a good (and probably the best) picture.
  16. I'd say in the last few years, it would be ESPN or Fangraphs.
