  1. Most 7-figure IFAs are stateside after one season in the DSL. Off the top of my head, this was true for Kevin Made, Moisés Ballesteros, Cristian Hernández, Adán Sánchez, Jefferson Rojas, Ángel Cepeda and Derniche Valdez.
  2. Correct that the Cubs have $6.26 million but the agreements they have are all handshake agreements and can be backed out of, if necessary. Sadly, this seems to happen to a few kids ever year.. Plus they can trade for up to 60% of their pool, which would be an additional $3.75 million.
  3. FYI - Wilfri de la Cruz is expected to sign for $2.3 million. Juan Cabada is expected to sign for $1.5 million. Juan Tomas is expected to sign for $1.1 million.
  4. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/baseball-americas-2025-scout-survey-evaluators-fear-games-direction-amid-doom-and-gloom-offseason/
  5. Sasaki has to sign by 1/22 or 1/23 so I bet any team that thinks it has a chance will wait the extra week before formally signing their big time IFAs.
  6. They did graduate Brown and trade Ferris, who both have mid/TOR potential. Plus Steele was always viewed as a back-end guy at best and this pitch development team turned him into a #2 starter.
  7. Dropping Ballesteros and Caissie after the seasons they've had is pretty weird, imo.
  8. No worries. I just linked to that because it had a few more details (I didn't want to post too much because Ben Badler came by here once a while back asking for us to delete some of the BA premium info I had posted).
  9. If he signs with any team besides the Dodgers or Padres, that team will have to back out of their 2025 handshake agreements (the Dodgers aren't linked to any of the top 50 bonuses in 2025 and the Padres are only linked to the 47th biggest bonus in the class).
  10. Mentioned more details here yesterday: BA had it first.
  11. 7 other last minute signings besides José Ureña: https://www.thecubreporter.com/cubs-sign-eight-ifa-close-2024-isp
  12. BA just had a new update and their 34th ranked IFA prospect - Juan Tomas, SS, Dominican Republic - has flipped from the Marlins to the Cubs due to the staffing changes in the Marlins international scouting department. BA also has him designated as a "trending up" player who has generated more positive buzz than his bonus might indicate. MLB Pipeline doesn't have Tomas ranked in their top 50. Incidentally, BA has dropped every IFA's prospect ranking down 1 after adding Rōki Sasaki at 1 so Wilfri de la Cruz is now 10th. Juan Cabada actually fell two spots to 24th due to the addition of Japanese SS/RHP Shotaro Morii to the rankings at 23 (he's going to the A's).
  13. Nope. Johan was selected in the big league portion of the Rule 5 Draft (2nd overall, then traded to the Twins who actually picked 1st).
  14. The Cubs also lost RHP Ángel González and OF Jacob Wetzel in the minor league portion of the Rule 5 Draft. They added RHP Will Jensen, RHP Nolan Clenney and RHP Robert Kwiatkowski.
  15. No, they have him at 22: https://t.co/oEQ8uGBdtk
  16. Riley Thompson will be pitching in Korea next season.
  17. The problem is they’re 15-16 now and we only ever universally know a very few prep guys at that age so it’s so tough to truly compare. For example, Moisés Ballesteros is at AAA and would be draft eligible college aged in the 2025 draft.
  18. Pipeline has Cabada 9 in this writeup, ahead of de La Cruz at 12. (Piepline ranks by prospect’s future ability, unlike BA.) Pipeline is free so let me post their writeup: Video scouting report: https://www.mlb.com/video/top-international-prospects-juan-cabada-ss-3b
  19. The Cubs are expected to sign two top-30 bonuses (BA ranks IFAs by bonus amount): 9. Wilfri de la Cruz, SS, Dominican Republic 22. Juan Cabada, SS, Dominican Republic Pedro Strop’s son is signing with St Louis.
